I've only ever lived here so can't really compare it to anywhere else

Pros: beautiful scenery outside the cities, healthcare, friendly people, indigenous culture

Cons: f***ed up housing market, terribly insulated cold damp homes, indigenous make up 15% of population and over 50% of prison population + horrific socioeconomic indicators across the board, especially health, centrist neolib government seen as progressive, white supremacist pockets, barely any Black people, trash cuisine

where abouts you live in nz bro?

ik south island is where all hillbilly racists live

Just use empirical sources to base your argument in. Theres still plenty of theoretical stuff in empricial arguments bc you need to synthesize and build upon the sources you use and build ur argument

I recently found out about the USSR soldiers committing mass rape of German women in the aftermath of WW2. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape_during_the_occupation_of_Germany
100’s of thousands of German women of all ages raped.
Is it not true or is there a good explanation for it? I don’t know how to feel about this, it’s really confusing me

let me see if i can find the sources in particular but what ive mostly come to find from research is that the ussr actually handled this issue. being found guilty of rape was an immediate death sentence as a soviet soldier, while soldiers of other allied forces saw no repercussions of the sort whatsoever.

i remember a few other more minor things but i feel like this is the important factor here. rape undeniably happened (along all lines i guess might be added here) but the crime of sexual assault was cruelly and decisively punished.

"Officers and men of the Red Army! We are entering the country of the enemy. The remaining population in the liberated areas, regardless of whether they’re German, Czech, or Polish, should not be subjected to violence. The perpetrators will be punished according to the laws of war. In the liberated territories, sexual relations with females are not allowed. Perpetrators of violence and rape will be shot.” - J.V. Stalin, Order of the Day, January 19, 1945. literal stalin quote
