China calls itself communist and it's winning in a lot of areas, so you can see how its easy for someone who's left wing but hasn't really read anything

i guess so especially for young zoomers

i remember when china was just the country that used to be communist but not rly anymore in the media, this demonization of china and the propaganda towards with an anticommunist angle wasn't so prevalent just a couple of years ago tbh

If the US did have a parliamentary democracy what are the odds that a labor party would just end up like the Australian Labor Party

you gotta understand the vast majority of people - even supposed political thinkers - do not understand the world in terms of categorization by competing economic models, they think about it in terms of social partisanship. Even many people who claim outwardly to be viewing such conflict categorized by "class" (see: the rising right populist movement, etc.) are only using class as a proxy for social partisanship rather than a means of conflict in and of itself.
When the world is categorized solely based on social partisanship, then of course you're going to think whatever theoretical buzzword is associated in your in-group with global neopolitical politics is the problem solely in and of itself - whether that's "the radical left", "the socialist democrats", "globohomo", whatever else, rather than the structural concepts that enable such groups to exist to begin with. Most people obviously aren't going to (or simply cannot, due to time or whatever) read theory to understand these concepts so they're going to fixate on the surface of the problem; meanwhile others who can't accept the truth of the matter obscure the truth out of COPE (right wing "intellectuals").

and you can see this in the fact that the populist right will complain about inflation and rising cost of living but blame it on a Jewish NWO conspiracy rather than the underlying economic system

and you can see this in the fact that the populist right will complain about inflation and rising cost of living but blame it on a Jewish NWO conspiracy rather than the underlying economic system

well that's true for sure but thats a little bit different of a sect of politics from what im talking about

i more mean if you look at "mainstream" populist right figures, like let's take Saagar Enjeti from Breaking Points (or numerous other people occupying his position), People like him will have these big pundit monologues talking about class, and trying to blow up things like political differences among college educated vs those w/o degrees, middle american d*** crises, differing social views in unions vs their representatives, issues with upper class social discourse vs the isolated lower class, misguided inflation discussions due to the bubble politicians live in, etc.

On the surface, these arguments are not wrong insofar as they're correct that there's a conflict between classes which is largely derivative of class itself. The issue is that they their underlying cares aren't actually about class holistically, it's about class as a proxy for the current alignment of social views. For example, currently, upper bourgeois (mostly) present themselves as being overtly socially liberal in terms of the culture war , whereas this is generally not the case with the lower class (i.e. union coalminer who's family is addicted to opioids flooding the market).

So if you take the oversimplication of rich = liberal, poor = conservative, people like Enjeti focus on class only because of this distinction, they don't focus on class because of actual class conflict itself. This leads to arguments where it sounds like they're focusing on class a***ysis or conflict, but in reality they're just arguing about the culture war but as it exists along class lines
