The best introduction to Marxism probably is something else. Marx himself is not easy and as a German speaker I always find the English translations a bit iffy.

    Try reading this: marxists.org/archive/mandel/1967/intromet/index.htm

It's only 60 (small) pages, or three long essays online. You will understand the basics of Marxism better and then you can move to Marx. I recommended this to many other users ITT and they were quite happy about it. It's simple enough to understand: An Introduction to Marxist Economics by Ernest Mandel. Best summary I have found so far.

Yeah it's a quick read. You can do it an afternoon or two. Just goes over the basic terminology of Marxism in a simple way, like "labor theory of value", "surplus value" and so on. Basically the tools Marx gave us to a***yze the world. We gotta use those tools ourselves, Marx doesn't tell us "do this and that", he only gives concepts for us to work with and organize our thoughts with. A lot of it is stuff we intuitively know from living in capitalism but can't describe in words on our own because we haven't spent our lives thinking about these issues.

Remember watching Motorcycle Diaries for history class in 12th grade and some dork complained about it to his mom and they delayed showing it for a week and just had the kid sit out the two days it was shown in class

    Yes

“The Che of The Motorcycle Diaries is more akin to Jack Kerouac or Neal Cassady than Marx or Lenin."

Reminds me of when Assassin’s Creed and put Marx in their game having him say “Democracy is the only route to Socialism”

Yeah I rarely use twitter on my actual personal account but I use an alt to go KD and talk s*** without having to face any smoke.

I'm in school to become a journalist so I need to step up my twitter game though

not really a book written by a socialist, but currently reading "How to Hide an Empire" and feel its so good. really exposes the depths of Americans empire and its indifference, racism, and human rights abuses and atrocities it carried out on those populations
