@krishna_bound whats ur thoughts on the one divides into two debates that was going on in china during the 60s if u have any?
i think ive talked about it on this thread before actually but idk what page it was on
give me a bit as i was just heading out lol
more like based medical takes
I hate liberal psychologists
That guys is ed inn general but ppl had depression before Capitalism
Still capitalism definitely causes mental illnesses in more ways than one
In reality a mental disorder is often not much more than a mental state that impairs your functioning in society, and that's different based on how said society functions
One of the explicit criteria for a diagnosis is even the extent to which your functioning is impaired
i don't know anything about the guy, i just thought it was funny.
Of course the concept of depression existed pre-capitalism. I don't think that's a mutually exclusive from the (correct) idea that the majority of people who claim or are diagnosed don't really have depression, and are just reacting to how s***ty and detached society is. I'm not anti-psychiatry like a lot of people are online, but i do think it's impossible to detach that from wider society, this stuff doesn't exist in a vacuum. Like ofc someone working a 9 to 5 office job for 80 years whose job consists of looking at a screen and sending emails and then has whatever personal issues they have in their personal life is gonna be depressed. Would that same person be depressed if you separated the environment they were raised in from them as a individual being? Probably not.

I don't think these two are truly distinct tbh
Who said that and why
R.T Murphy basically says that the big economies are so reliant on the dollar that none of them want to risk the kind of crashes that would occur if there was a run on the currency. and no other currency is in enough circulation

Well all the big economies are capitalist so of course they wouldn't want a huge crisis

I think that's true but that doesn't mean it's irreplaceable, who knows where things will go in the future. In the current state of global capitalism for those big economies tho? Yeah replacing it would be too costly
I listen to theory

I do wonder how the USSR would have turned out if Lenin had died an old man
But also, the fact that so much responsibility laid on the survival of Lenin shows a big flaw in the USSR system
Same can be said for Sankara and Burkina Faso
People who say imperialism can only occur under capitalism and not under feudal or slave economies are so dumb
Such a horrible misreading of Lenin

That's why it's so dumb when people are like f*** Khrushchev and Gorbachev and don't try to a***yze how the system laid down by those before them allowed them to even enact those changes
People should read Lenin's testament and not just the passage about Stalin, he was more critical and doubtful of what the revolution had accomplished. It's hard to exactly say what could have been done differently given the state they were in tho, and even when you can, that's easy to say in hindsight
