Nixon innocent
This is funny and all until you remember that most of the united states has probably forgotten any history they may have picked up and held onto myths instead
look at him hes mad at nixon memes
It escapes me where this meme stems from
as far as US presidents go i'd take nixon over anyone from the last 3 decades tbh lol

So many great choices to choose from it's so difficult to pick just one.

if nixon didn't have to deal with congress we'd have a 4 day work week, higher social assistance spending, family grants, nationalized healthcare, higher medicine research spending, price controls, and a stronger EPA

U forgetting about the D.E.A. king im cool on that.
True socialist idealism = Damn what if nixon could do what he wanted without congress
Nixon was a part of driving force behind HUAC too bruh stop capping
I get if you're trying to compare platforms and say its a give and take and those things would be better if they happened than the current situation but even still it's f*** Nixon every single time.

nixons war on d**** & latam/ME foreign policies were atrocious obv (esp latam) but you gotta balance the bad with the good in this country. it's still the US - i'm speaking within the confines of america as it exists, not an idealized society.
I ain't even trying to split hairs or get on some funny s*** about this lol but u caping for one of the most virulent and successful anti-communists in U.S. history bros whole bag was anticommunism (as it was for plenty/most politicians i give u that)
I ain't lifting a bozo like that up and I consider it an L for u to even be doing this rn. Respectfully

nah i'm not saying he was a socialist
i don't really care about nixon as an individual, i don't have an actual preference for him outside of vague irony online.
however from a pragmatic angle it's just true his social domestic policies would have been paradigm changing for the country had they come into existence whereas the other negatives from him would have existed regardless with any comparative president anyway - they were identical to virtually every other politician at the time. I'm not advocating for a world socialist order led by nixon if that's what you took away from it
the US is still going to be the US, hence why say balkanization is probably the best thing people can hope for given that, but I'm just saying people are in denial if they want to act like had his social policy passed he wouldn't have been seen in the same light as people like FDR - who people similarly argue about in regards to "corruption" or "ideology" (FDR was similarly virulently anti-communist and said the New Deal was the last stand to save capitalism despite it including social policy).
The US is never going to be socialist, when it comes to US history you have to pragmatically look at the good and bad from a grey area of morality disparate from ideological good because beneficial policy is always going to be disparate in this country from any wider universal good
