about the placement and its function in socialist economy. I think the leftcom article i read was more about general commodity production in socialist economy, they make the argument that it was commodity production that held back the socialist states of the past.
I just wanted to hear your thoughts on the role of commodity production plays in socialist economy and what it takes to abolish it and if it was able to be abolished in the past.

i like reading philosophy in general but at the end of the day i'm not delusional enough to think most of is it is anything but a form of detached entertainment or essentially a form of art/literature.
That isn't to say it can't be influential - art/literature can be highly influential too - but philosophy as "theory" isn't intrinsic a rigorous science like, say, mathematics. The effect of philosophy on society is much more detached and itself is usually already existent within a pre-existing framework regardless. Things like political philosophy are usually created to post-rationalize pre-existing thoughts - like Schmitt didn't write "Concept of the Political"to outline a scientific process, it's obviously written to rationalize something he already felt was true in the political process, regardless of its applicability or not. Philosophy ends up usually being a means of communication in that sense, and it's typically delusional to think that philosophy will ultimately guide political processes in some "philosopher-king" manner - there's obviously a detachment between philosophy as a "science" and philosophy as "theory" at the end of the day.
Most of what people think of philosophy when it comes to influential work (say, idk, Machiavelli) is really not "philosophy" (i.e. Cartesianism) but a form of social science. The lines obviously blur at times esp. when you get into things like pschology/behavioral a***ysis, but like, i dunno, take structuralism or post-structuralism. sure, it's interesting, but let's say you need to make a political decision like about whether or to send arms to ukraine if you're a country like finland. like no one there is going to be like "let me sit down first and reflect on the structural system of ukranian identity as a figment of post-rational interactions". sure, philosophical a***ysis can help to some degree with societal a***ysis, but societal a***ysis is largely apolitical regardless of what most people think. even when it comes to political conclusions, they're made within the pre-existing frameworks of politics, they can only come to individualized conclusions when the observer is personally doing so within an arbitrary pre-determined a***ytical lens, of which is completely worthless unless it's being done for a social reason (i.e. an academic group).
While I think there's sometimes value in philosophy, or again, influence at times, philosophy ultimately isn't really generally "theory" ultimately (esp. not in a sense of praxis) and what ends up being pragmatic theory is usually either just social science or (actual) scientific practice.
Most of what is actually influential in what people would otherwise prescribe to philosophy is actually religion even in secular/atheistic societies
