its a really popular rw take in like far right twitter circles to say actually we already live under communism because (completely ed reason) and communists aren't actually communists anymore they're ultra-leftists or anarchists
haz and that segment of his audience/adjacent audience basically took this take and morphed it into their own take of "and here's why that's a good thing"
Can't even make fun of these guys cuz I was one of em not too long ago
just do what i do and make up for it by hating on them extra hard
just do what i do and make up for it by hating on them extra hard
I try not to overcorrect either
Why I thought china was still socialist
is this red terror?"But most importantly just wanting to believe there's a big successful socialist state in the 21st century
can the second french empire be classified as proto fascist ?
What made them Fascist? Was there major economic
Privatization in the area?
I think it was an irredentist monarchy

i don't see an argument for it anymore than any other empire. the only reason people tend to think so is because of the 1851 coup and the rhetoric used at the time and context of the coup. In that sense, yeah, there are parallels to be drawn between bonapartist rhetoric and historical happenings vs that of fascist regimes in the 20th century, but thats kinda it. the idea of an authoritarian govt + national revival/patriotism + colonialism isnt enough to make something fascist.

mainly the the centralizing of power into the executive branch and negation of the liberal democracy before it

yeah i don’t think it was fascist but like a precursor

I think fascism specifically requires the role of private capital in this political dynamic to cement economic hierarchies and protect private interests
Revanchism/Irridentism, autocracy, and nationalism are all other qualities of fascism that aren’t unique to it

i didn’t mean that second empire was fascist but you would see some elements that would be common in fascism in the second empire

the historical precursor to fascism was sorellianism and carlylism which the former of did lead to french integralism so its not insanely far off. even in france it went sorellianism -> charles maurras, but bonaparte wasnt influenced by maurras, but inversely maurras was influenced by events that happened because of bonaparte so its arguable
