High school students allegedly mob, beat assistant principal
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1olCW1GJTcSPRING, Texas (KPRC) - Students at a Texas high school are accused of forming a mob and beating an assistant principal so badly she was rushed to the hospital. Her colleagues say it’s not the first time something violent like this has happened at the school, and they don’t feel safe.
Staff members at Westfield High School in Spring, Texas, are coming forward after the assistant principal was allegedly beaten by several students Thursday at the school’s 9th Grade Center. They say this isn’t the first time students have injured staff members, and they fear it won’t be the last.
“It broke my heart. It makes me want to cry,” said a teacher at the school about the incident. “She loves those kids. She is the nicest person. She’s the best administrator that we have at Westfield High School.”
The teacher asked not to be identified out of fear of retaliation from Spring Independent School District, but she says she felt compelled to speak out after the assistant principal’s brutal beating, which allegedly happened after she tried to break up a fight.
“Three or four other kids jump in on her and just pummel her to the ground, and they are kicking her and pulling her hair,” the teacher said.
The victim’s family says she was left unable to talk after the attack and was suffering from excruciating head pain. Her father says it’s unclear how long she may have to stay at the hospital, as her pain needs to be constantly monitored. She will also need a CT scan.
The school district released a statement that reads in part, “All students involved in the altercation will be subject to the full extent of disciplinary action available. We take these issues very seriously as the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. There will be no tolerance for any altercations or disruptions to learning.”
The teacher disputes the district’s words, adding the entire campus only has two officers.
“When you call for help to the front office, nobody ever shows up,” she said. “We don’t feel safe. Faculty don’t feel safe and parents... If the parents knew how unsafe the inside of the school is, they would be upset.”

My heart weeps. Young people will never know what they missed out on. Violence aside, it’s not their fault that they don’t yet have the wisdom to snap out of it. But it seems like once you buy in, it’s much harder to see the light.

This is the result of the end-stage to the 'Every Student Succeeds Act'. Administration nowadays does not punish students for this type of behavior. Parents refuse to take responsibility for the behavior their kids exude. The teachers get 100% of the blame. There is something terribly wrong with the youth right now. Worst part is that there's a whole swathe of society in denial about it. They'll blow up about 'kids today being coddled' and start rationalizing their own abusive nature as 'not giving into their emotional manipulation' and 'showing them how cruel the world can be'. They then call therapy "kids just wanting someone to tell them they are good"
The kids are not okay. The parents are even worse.
Big News Stories Today:
US could hit the debt ceiling as early as June 1, Treasury Secretary says
apnews.com/article/x-date-debt-ceiling-yellen-treasury-borrowing-f726fd88a9bb7f72e50f0b948731ac57
WASHINGTON (AP) — Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen notified Congress on Monday that the U.S. could default on its debt as early as June 1, if the body does not raise or suspend its statutory borrowing authority before then.
In a letter to House and Senate leaders, Yellen urged congressional leaders “to protect the full faith and credit of the United States by acting as soon as possible” to address the $31.4 trillion limit on its legal borrowing authority, adding that it is impossible to predict with certainty the exact date of when the U.S. will run out of cash.
“We have learned from past debt limit impasses that waiting until the last minute to suspend or increase the debt limit can cause serious harm to business and consumer confidence, raise short-term borrowing costs for taxpayers, and negatively impact the credit rating of the United States,” she said in the letter.
Also Monday, the Congressional Budget Office reported that it saw a greater risk of the U.S. running out of funds in early June. CBO Director Phillip L. Swagel said because of less-than-expected tax receipts this filing season and a faster IRS having processed already received returns, “Treasury’s extraordinary measures will be exhausted sooner than we previously projected.”
In January, Yellen sent a letter to congressional leaders, stating that her department had begun resorting to “extraordinary measures” to avoid a federal government default.
The Treasury said Monday it plans to increase its borrowing during the April to June quarter of this year, even as the federal government is close to breaching the debt limit.
The U.S. plans to borrow $726 billion during the quarter. That’s $449 billion more than projected in January, due to a lower beginning-of-quarter cash balance and projections of lower-than-expected income tax receipts and higher spending.
While Russia’s invasion of Ukraine remains a burden on U.S. economic growth, Treasury officials say the debate over the debt ceiling poses the greatest risk to the U.S. financial position.
Eric Van Nostrand, acting assistant secretary for economy policy, said in a statement that “even if Congress ultimately raises the debt limit before a default occurs, the ensuing uncertainty could raise borrowing costs and induce other financial stress that would weaken our labor market and our standing in the world.”
“There is no time to waste,” said Shai Akabas, director of economic policy at the Bipartisan Policy Center, which forecasts the so-called X-date when the government exhausts its extraordinary measures. His organization will also provide an updated X-date projection in the coming days, he says.
“The U.S. government is again within mere months or even weeks of failing to make good on all its obligations. That is not a position befitting of a country considered the bedrock of the financial system, and only adds uncertainty to an already shaky economy.”
Democrats and the White House are pushing for Congress to increase the federal debt limit. President Joe Biden wants the cap raised without negotiation. The House Republican majority has most recently passed a bill to secure spending cuts in exchange for a debt limit increase.
Yellen said last week, at the Cap-to-Cap policy conference in Washington that “Congress must vote to raise or suspend the debt limit, and it should do so without conditions and it should not wait until the last minute. I believe that is a basic responsibility of our nation’s leaders to get this done.”
U.S. military is tracking another mysterious balloon

The U.S. military is tracking a mysterious balloon that flew over American soil, but it’s not clear what it is or whom it belongs to, according to three U.S. officials.
The object flew across portions of Hawaii but did not go over any sensitive areas, the officials said.
The U.S. military has been tracking it since late last week and has determined that it poses no threat to aerial traffic or national security and is not communicating signals, one official said.
It's not clear if it's a weather balloon or something else, the official said, adding that the U.S. could still shoot it down if it nears land.
The object, which does not appear to have maneuverability, is moving slowly toward Mexico, the officials said.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California man accused of killing three teenage boys by intentionally ramming their car after they played a doorbell-ringing prank on him was found guilty Friday of murder.
Anurag Chandra was convicted in a Riverside County courtroom of three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted murder.
“The murder of these young men was a horrendous and senseless tragedy for our community. I thank the jury for their verdict. This is an important step toward justice,” county District Attorney Mike Hestrin said in a statement.
Chandra’s attorney, David Wohl, did not immediately return a request for comment Friday.
The victims, who were all 16 years old, were among six teens inside a Toyota Prius on Jan. 19, 2020 when Chandra intentionally rammed their vehicle off the road and fled, prosecutors said.
The Prius’ driver lost control and the sedan slammed into a tree in Temescal Valley, about 60 miles (97 kilometers) southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
The friends had dared one boy to either jump into a pool at night or play “ding dong ditch.”
Chandra, who didn’t know the teens, testified at trial that one of the boys rang his doorbell and exposed his buttocks before running away, according to The Riverside Press-Enterprise. Chandra testified that he followed because he feared for his family’s safety and wanted to express his anger. He said he was “extremely, extremely mad” from the prank.
