with the sea temperature rising year over year, what does this mean for us exactly?

The ocean has been sucking up heat like a mf. But it has a limit. Similarly when we have no arctic sea that's a Blue Ocean Event which...we don't really know what happens then. A lot of weather patterns and atmospheric stuff is driven by the ocean. This is largely unprecedented.
What it means immediately though is that places real low by the sea are already being abandoned by corpos. Like insurance groups ditching Florida.

faster than expected boyos
The original 2015 Paris Accord projected we would hit 1.5 C warming with 'business as usual' in 2040. (We just hit 1.5 C warming, 17 years earlier)

well that’s where your NPC brain is wrong.
it is identifiable to myself since I own it; but to the public is unidentifiable.
Do not play chess against me, God.

Alongside globally warm water temperatures and the Earth briefly reaching 1.69°C above nominal, the Atlantic is experiencing unprecedently warm sea surface temperatures. Hotter oceans can fuel far more powerful tropical cyclones provided the other conditions of low wind sheer and low Saharan dust are also met. Furthermore, warmer seas provide a poorer moderation of temperature extremes and increase evaporation, leading to more frequent storms and dangerously humid conditions.
We have also entered an El Nino where Atlantic SSTs are traditionally cooler than normal, creating a novel situation of both basins being exceptionally warm. The University of Arizona has taken this into consideration and has predicted an incredible 25 named storms for the 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season, which would place it as the 3rd busiest behind 2005 and 2020 respectively. Both those were La Nina, making this situation wholly unique.
but F*** IT WE BALL im flying (yes! flying! reeeeee!) to Miami tmrw to see my wife for the first time in a month

wet bulb temps have arrived in the southern US. if the power goes out many many people will die in the heat. homeless people are especially f***ed. it's a level of heat where in the shade with a fan you will simply perish. the only way to survive is with air conditioning. this is not normal

I can’t even picture something like The Carrington Even occurring god forbid, the heat would just take out majority of the people.
