Weeknd fell off musically after Trilogy because he became more generic.
Same with Lorde. She's still a terrific vocalist tho
I disagree. I believe Solar Power may grow to be loved over time but the issue with it is Lorde is not an elite vocalist for this specific sound to work. In fact it exposed her as a mediocre singer. It felt like a highschool kid trying to make a Beatles record or Blonde both sonically & lyrically.
That being said, there’s a lot of great moments, parts where we get hints of synths and distortion that add flavour but the overall drab and lacklustre instrumental sweeps the highlights away. I’m going to go back and listen to it because it has some nice records like California, Big Star & Fallen Fruit but this was a pretty big drop for someone of her calibre.
It was a wrap for most of her fans when she opened with this
Now if you’re looking for a saviour, well, that’s not me
You need someone to take your pain for you?
Well, that’s not me
hahahahahaha
solar power felt like if lorde tried to do a clairo album but with 50% better songwriting
Just cause her ass was nice and tight on the cover doesn't mean it was her best @op
Agree it’s an overhated album, but in no way shape or form does it touch Melodrama

nah, songwriting was mostly poor and derivative
