On god tho lmao. I thought mfs was trolling at first because Keef and Drill were huge on the og site but come to find out some people actually thought Drake was putting Durk on frfr and that’s f***ing sad lol. I can’t even imagine how it was possible to miss Durk run up until now. He don had so many hits since 2015, it’s crazy.
Also when these guys on here reject street rap, that just never sat well with me. ever.
like hip hop and its culture (which these ppl dont get is larger than music.) are constantly evolving BC of the streets
just looks real odd all around 🤔🤨
All that proves is that Pop Smoke did not become really popular until he died sadly which is true.
Wrong
Wrong
He 100% blew up after he died, he was popular but he was nowhere near as mainstream as he is rn
I feel like this thread finna turn into a war soon
He 100% blew up after he died, he was popular but he was nowhere near as mainstream as he is rn
I mean yeah but niggas acting like he wasn’t up before that
He 100% blew up after he died, he was popular but he was nowhere near as mainstream as he is rn
People don't want to accept this for some reason.
Nobody saying he was like some undergound ass rapper, but to act like his death didnt give him a boost, like it does plenty of other artists, is ignorant

Pop Smoke was 100% on before he passed Wth

Yes buts that not what blew him up; its not like he was unknown before then

It's what made him a household name.

Ofc death gave him a boost but he was still one of the hottest in the game despite only selling like 25k.
People so out of touch on this site we really had someone saying the other day YB doesn’t have any hype anymore and Fredo Bang is bigger than him now
Pop Smoke was 100% on before he passed Wth
Dior was blowingup at the time he died
He would had number 1 album easily by now. Guy as we seen is versatile artist which can do hard song and some slower songs just like 50 could
He was gonna blow either way that’s why its huge shame he passed cause we don’t know how far he could progress
yea he was popular and people who were tapped in knew about him and his buzz, but now he's literally a "I don't usually like rap but I like pop smoke" type artist

Idt anyone has ever said that fam
I was hearing his music playing out of whips just walking to the store. You go to the park to hoop you wouldve been hearing at least a couple pop smokes songs playing off someones speaker.
Imagine how it was in NYC
was so hype when christopher walking vid dropped, then a couple weeks after he was gone
fortnite
minecraft
etc
number one victory royal yeah fortnite we bout to get down (get down)
all facts
it's sad but it's just how it is. "cool factor" is probably the single most important thing when it comes to popular music
Ofc death gave him a boost but he was still one of the hottest in the game despite only selling like 25k.
Like I mentioned above, sales only matter when we want them to.
Thug was in this same position when he first got on and he had bigger songs and more collabs than Pop Smoke. Yet sold 16k and everyone on this site was calling it a flop. If we didnt like Pop Smoke we'd do the same thing to him regardless of how hot he was for selling 25k.
Thats why imo we should just stop discussing sales/charts altogether then.

Yeah tbh, that’s always weird to me. I can understand not liking street rap like on some Von, Duck type s*** but there’s street rap out there where niggas is telling us their story in like a “mature” way or whatever.
What I really hate is the mfs that’ll call rap music that’s highlighting the black struggle as “trauma p***” like all niggas is good for is turn up music n s***.
