Just like last year, decided to write up on a few albums that I think deserve a lot more recognition for how good they are. Just quick blurbs about them. Really, really recommend checking them out at least a little.

    1. Juçara Marçal - Delta Estácio Blues

    Genre: R&B? Pop? Experimental?

Notable Brazilian singer Juçara Marçal from the band Metá Metá dropped a really good, avant-gardeish Brazilian... R&B? album. Hard to really define what the album is, but it features a lot of off-the-wall production, combined with great vocals. Wide range of sounds, but still accessible and not totally experimental.

    2. Sons of Kemet - Black To The Future

Genre: Acid House, Soca, Drum and bass

Another year, another moment of me shilling for Shabaka Hutchings. The man is underappreciated, his music even more so. If you like jazz even a little, please just take a listen. That's all I'm gonna say.

    3. Blake Mills and Pino Palladino - Notes With Attachments

    Genre: Funk, Son Cubano

Really good instrumental project by Pino Palladino (extremely notable bass player who has played for The Who, Nine Inch Nails, D'Angelo, etc) and Blake Mills (songwriter/composer/singer who has collaborated with way too many acts to name). Just a unique, very nice album to put in the background. Great instrument playing, watertight song composition, and overall a well made album.

Well, it's really jazz-ish like their usual projects, but apparently Shabaka doesn't like being put in the "jazz" sphere. It's not really acid house, but there's a lot of influence that you can hear.

I'm surprised that Black Kray tape went under the radar as much as it did

You got any acid house recs?

Shiiett. Its not a subgenre im well versed in, i have a more widespread knowledge on house, but im diving deep into the subgenres as we speak. i found my love for house music thru deep house.

Person who got me into the acid subgenres is def luke vibert. I looked up that hes more acid techno tho
