For the 5 albums nominated for Best Rap Album, there is not a single song from any of those albums nominated for any of the other three rap categories (Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Melodic Rap Performance).

It would make sense that the best rap albums of the year would have a few songs that can be considered the best rap album of the year, right? For example, in years past songs like Sicko Mode and A Lot and Down Bad were nominated in the song categories for rap, while their respective albums were represented in the album category.

How can these be the best 5 rap albums of the year if they all don’t have a single song worth being nominated for the best rap song of the year?

Don’t get me wrong, I like I few of the albums in this category, but this just shows that these rap album choices were made trying to appeal to the traditional hip hop lane to seem like they’re in touch with the genre, when in reality none of these 5 albums really reflect the sound and state of rap music in 2020.

It’s an observation I made after spending ten seconds reading the nominees for the rap categories... in what way does that equate to too much thinking

With “best rap album” I think they’re looking for the best overall package or product.

Let’s be a real, a lot of these hot songs aren’t on very good albums. Mainstream hip hop was weak this year.
