I think it has more to do with black people have grown up with his music way more. A white girl only was spinning him when he had 3 or 4 sellout Pop hits back in 2008, but for the black community they grew up with him nonstop since 2005. He was much more in our culture so people developed more love for him.

Also yeah to an extent, the black community will always be more forgiving of black men when they are persecuted versus the white community. That's undeniable.
