This is something I've kind of always thought to myself but the 5G conspiracy theories have just exacerbated it.

It's already obvious that there is a theme among people with right wing political views that they commonly use terms such as 'redpilled' or 'free-thinkers' to describe themselves.

People who use these terms unironically believe themselves to be a bastion of thought, freethinking intellectuals who are above the common vermin that cannot think for themselves.

To me it almost seems like these people form their views not on rejection of left wing ideas, or even the support of typical right wing ideas, but for an innate need to latch on to any view they perceive to be counter to common thought.

I think the 5G conspiracy theory has been the best demonstration of this in a while. This is a conspiracy theory that doesn't hold up to even the slightest bit of scrutiny, yet has found proponents in the far right who are willing to perpetuate it despite a lack of any credible evidence. And of course, any attempt by the media or others to refute the theory is met with 'well if the media are trying this hard to disprove it, it must be true!'

What do you think? Are people latching on to this theory because they want to seem smarter than everyone else, or am I just being too hard on uneducated people who are likely very scared by what's happening?

  • No one wants to be wrong I suppose

That the illness known as COVID-19 is actually a result of exposure to 5G radio antennas rather than exposure to a virus.

    Allegedly:

The first rollout of 5G towers took place in Wuhan, around the same time the initial corona outbreak happened. And 5G radiation sickness has the same symptoms that corona virus has.

So they think corona is just a cover-up for 5G radiation affecting/killing people.

I don’t believe in this theory, but these are the basics. There are a lot of holes in it obviously.

    yep

Nah it’s not for political affiliations but that’s just Facebook hive mind

  • Yeah. I think if there was a tool to examine ones mind instantaneously we would see a lot of ego-centric motives in most people. Right wing politics exclusively operate this way, where as the objective goals in left wing politics are for the community. But, I feel like people on the left wing feel starved of a complex so they resort to other things beyond the political realm, and I've seen a f*** ton of them hop on the 5G train. I guess we're all kinda f***ed up searching for something to validate us in a way
