Really thought this song would launch Retch to a different level. Bars for days and a hot beat. S***s insane.
I thought this would be huge
!https://youtu.be/oqtunQ4yd30This one was a little embarrassing as a fan of all 3 lol. A Frankenstein abomination of a song that should’ve never left the studio
18 mil is still good but that's low for The Weeknd and Calvin Harris standards
Forget this came out
Was kinda underwhelming tbh

Really interesting to listen to this and see where they all are today
But it seemed like a truly safe hit, it has two catchy hooks, a beat that sounds like DJ Mustard’s style which was really big, and 3 popping artists on this one song
I actually think it would’ve been better off as Tinashe ft. Ty Dolla $ign song
I like Charli’s part but it’s not her type of song at all

Maybe it’s too safe? It meets at the intersection of 3 drastically different artists and ends up sounding like the soundtrack to a party scene on Freeform

Most of the hits of this era are too safe and similar
Mostly an R&B singer/rapper combo, catchy chorus, house-y plucks, "hey" chants, snaps or claps
None of these hits are challenging or different, I think the problem of Drop that Kitty is either it being too obvious or too pandering, or Ty Dolla $ign as a lead artist, or the three having no chemistry
