idk why this looks so unfinished
s*** look like a two pack of ass
Apparently there’s a lot more to it idk why they chose to show off the least exciting gameplay possible

my take might seem like a halo reach to yall but i think they intentionally doin smthn similar to the ugly sonic effect that happened w/ the movie
ugly sonic drew lots of controversy whether intentional or not
better sonic not only made ppl happier but it benefitted from all the attn that the ugly sonic controversy got
i don't really think that sonic frontiers as shown off so far is bad tbh. i know many do but idk it looks fine to me so far, also it's always been pretty obvious that it's an early build imo. the way they're showing it off like a tech demo is totally intentional. it's creating controversy both in its format and with what it's demonstrating
based on the leaks there's a lot goin on here, and since most of what's been officially revealed has reflected the leaks really accurately, i feel like we're gonna see more of the cooler stuff as this month goes on and public opinion may shift as they keep rollin out more s***
and if it does, then they benefit just like how the sonic movie did. they got all this attn from ppl complaining, some sincerely others just complaining, but it's attn nonetheless
i mean like they aint even shown off the more traditional levels yet lol
they're clearly aware of how they're showing things off n what things they're keepin tucked. only today did we learn that knuckles/master emerald/angel island are gonna be relevant, which tbh story-wise is rly interesting. they're jus droppin bread crumbs rn. i know a lotta ppl are sayin that it's horrible marketing but it rly aint. it's very effective marketing, it's just resulting in poor perception for now

eh there’s nothing at this point they can do to change the default texture grass/hills and rails floating in the sky.
the game has no identity. its not “bad” in the sense of ugly sonic. arguably, unremarkable is worse

man rails floating in the sky is in every sonic game that has rails i get how it looks strange though if you're comparing it to other open world games

yeah i mean its a little different than like skyrail from sa2 cus ur always moving forward, its not really apparently visible that the rails are just kinda there. windmill isle is another one.
here they’re literally just sitting there like god just placed them there for sonic. reminds me of a blitzsonic test stage lol

ya some levels do integrate them well
but a lot of them dont
i think we're just seein a similar thing here. it is a lil strange to just see some rails hangin out there in the sky, but others are integrated into structures on the island n look like they belong
it just aint a stretch from how sonic always done rails
i think it only seems weird cus in an open world-ish game like this you spend more time jus seein em in the background than u ever would in previous 3d sonic games

According to IGN yesterday, they said they legitimately were playing a much earlier and unfinished build of the game.
If the more up-to-date version will ACTUALLY be a huge difference is yet to be seen.
But it's extremely bizarre marketing that SEGA chose to use an unfinished version of the game for a gameplay reveal; especially when the game comes out in 6 months or less...

Some of the people who've played the game have been openly getting annoyed because they said from what they played the game has WAAAAAAAAAAAY more content to offer that's just not being shown.
All my forespoken leaks are coming to fruition
why can’t they show us this gameplay
Probably later in the month. I agree though they should have shown us better levels and a more polished version up front.
The industry ppl who have played the demo have been all saying they had a great time with it; and are impressed.
They can't talk about the demo in-depth until the embargo goes down next week
Ppl at SGF are saying it's good. But this is compiling the overall consensus of Japanese players. Maybe the game will be pretty good

ya as of right now im sittin with the opinion that sonic team has this under their sleeve still despite showin us some stuff. they rly bout to make a good sonic game im shook
also a whole bunch of twitter nerds-turned-marketing-experts keep complaining about how the marketing is terrible but they clearly dont understand marketing at all
campaigns don't have to be 0-100 from the get go, and it's already obvious that what sega/ign have done has captured a lot of interest, and more importantly intrigue/curiosity about this game. there are 1000s of tweets talkin bout how the marketing is an example of s***ty marketing, but somehow 0 of them understand that all their tweets are actual proof that the marketing is going well

Sounding more and more promising as this month goes on..

eeeeh.. i've been on board with the game the whole time, but personally think the marketing is pretty bad. I think they've already garnered some pretty bad press that'll be hard to recover from.
The game will need to get Elden Ring level acclaim for the word of mouth to go so far that it gets all the ppl who already wrote it off to still buy it.
Personally I think the game will be "Pretty good; and finally a step in the right direction for the Sonic franchise. Still far from a perfect game, with some jank. but a great time". not expecting universal acclaim.
What they should have done 1st was drop a trailer showcasing the story, cutscenes, the open world gameplay, the combats, and the traditional stages. Then drop individual spotlights for the game with commentary, like last week's IGN vid.

ya the reception hasn’t been great but thas just a different aspect of marketing, thas PR
i dunno maybe the twitter nerds are just confusing the two but marketing doesn’t gotta be “here’s the GOTY sonic frontiers!”
i wasn’t jokin when i said that i think they’re tryin to do smthn like Ugly Sonic from the sonic movie, the way that s*** turned around for em from a marketing pov was actually smthn worth studying. basically i think the slow burn of info releasing is all rly calculated and intended to take ppl thru a mix of emotions so that by the time they show off somethin rly wild (like the super sonic boss fights, if the leaks are true, n hopefully they are cus that sounds sick af) ppl will be on the edge of their seats

Naw. I think Sega always fumbles when it comes to Sonic lol. No way this is purposeful marketing.
No matter how you slice it, just showing an exciting game will be way more beneficial than showing a "bad" game and giving it a redemption arc.
My brother, for Exp. saw the original Sonic Movie trailer with the ugly design; declared it to be trash, and then wrote it off. He didn't know they redesigned Sonic until like last week.
There are tons of casual fans that payed attention because they knew this was a open world Sonic game; and once they were turned off probably aren't gonna watch any more footage.
The only ppl that's really gonna follow all of these gameplay reveals and leaks are hardcore fans. I think they can still salvage a lot of ppl who stopped caring with a great trailer, and good reviews if the game turns out good when it drops. But I don't think what they're currently doing is benefiting them at all
