It’s a s***ty decision but PlayStation executives didn’t just walk into a GameStop, see no one in there, and go “Welp no one is buying physicals anymore, guess we can stop selling them.”
Physical media is on the rise (somewhat) when it comes to music and movies, but in gaming it continues to fall at a pretty rapid rate.
I think the market is big enough to still warrant physicals, and it will be always be there to some extent so even if they become very limited, in my ideal world they would never go away entirely, but it’s not like there’s some major blind spot that they’re missing when it comes to online retailers. That’s included in the data that had them make this decision.

Jul 1This is mighty bleak man. Granted I basically only play on PC so most of my stuff is digital, but I do like to get physicals for the games I really like (or their special editions). Really don't mind double dipping if there's no physical on PC either. All the more reason to pirate em now.
