The vast majority of games are not 300 GB
Y'all are acting like every game is GTA VI size
Digital download is not a futuristic format at all
150 gigs is still a lot . I worked on a game where we were downloading 150+ builds daily and it was unreal 4 . Now imagine when more games are unreal engine 5 or the upcoming 6 which hopefully has better compression but who knows
They about to ruin metal gear solid and Akira movie too
I miss gaming magazines tho

I have a crazy large collection
You're refusing to acknowledge that a big reason as to why most people do digital now is BECAUSE of these companies pushing them in that direction slowly over the past decade
We don’t know that’s a big reason why “most people” do that, you’re just pulling anecdotal s*** up that can’t be verified to win your arguments
Still, like I said, 300gb games at current gen means ps6 file sizes will be insane, discs are not prepared for that future
They about to ruin metal gear solid and Akira movie too
yea im good
Ya PC and switch 2. Got a ps5 but barely use it
I am pc now again feels good . I couldn’t justify getting a ps5 or pro a tv and paying for online where only thing not on pc I truly want is gta

Esp in a world where SSDs are experiencing a shortage lmfao
Yeah so you misunderstood just about everything I said. Perhaps it’s my fault for not explaining myself properly. I am not going to bat for Sony, or any corporation. I feel like it’s really weird that I can’t have a take on physical media without it being portrayed as a pro-Sony take. It’s genuinely frightening, it’s like you don’t even see the humanity in me. It’s f***ing gross. I didn’t once actually defend Sony or any corporation, but people keep saying that over and over.
The maga cult is small fraction of America’s 350m population. 80m Trump voters is a completely delusional small fraction of the overall country, living in their own fantasy world. That’s completely different than most people using digital* now.
If people keep saying that over and over, it might be warranted to look into why they're saying that.
You can say you're not defending all you want while continuously criticizing anyone in here not wanting to "accept humanity's changes" but that's the exact kind of resignation all these corporations and powerful oligarchs want people to have. It only benefits them whether it's something as small as video games or as big as food.
You’re right the real numbers are a bit lower. Still 78% which is 4 out every 5 PlayStation users
https://twitter.com/Genki_JPN/status/2052587530835591595comparing the numbers between physical and digital sales would only make sense when it's strictly about games that are actually available in both formats
otherwise it's useless

It’s not resignation if most people already prefer this format jackass
I don’t criticize people for not wanting to accept humanity’s changes lol. I definitely called people drama queens because they’re acting like video games are ending and life is hard right now and this is why
Everyone jumped on me but I didn’t even realize the atmosphere itt was that serious because of how you could see this coming for so many reasons
I am pc now again feels good . I couldn’t justify getting a ps5 or pro a tv and paying for online where only thing not on pc I truly want is gta
i've been the most ani-pc person ever, but i gotta be honest, I'm starting to not see much of a difference

Not to mention the fact that many games already didn't have the games on them due to rushed manufacturing and corporate laziness. It's all been intentional to create this outcome lol.
I don't even own a current gen console but they've been salivating over forcing people to accept this for years

writing was on the wall when physical editions became stretch goals for indie devs

That's not anecdotal at all, it's obvious if you've been keeping up with the moves these companies have been making over the past decade

You know how most people feel because you’ve been keeping up with the moves? Man you are not a serious individual.
That’s the definition of anecdotal evidence.
Am I wrong for copping the PS5 Pro
nahh i love mine
Feels like this would have gone over a lot better with a ps6 tech demo of live gameplay running was shown with this announcement. Sort of “ yes we can’t do physical but this is a tech demo on a PlayStation 6 specs we plan to have this is what you will be experiencing “ of a physint or upcoming game that will launch with ps6 .
that would require waaaayyyyy tooo much foresight for these companies, you're giving em way too much credit

Man wtf are you talking about
You really think Sony is doing this out of the goodness of their heart for their love of the consumer out of nowhere?
No, this was a strategic move that they've been building up to over the past decade plus.
Capitalism in general does not want anyone to own anything, that's why basically everything has become subscription-based over the past 10 years. This is just another form of that

Man, this has already happened. Pc games went away from shelves, disc drives left computers, and gamers started using digital platforms. This is not some grand design of Sony, this is the way of the world Jesus lord please can you accept that.
Capitalism is infecting every part of our world, and it’s the reason s*** costs too much, but this is different. Also PS6 handheld wouldn’t even play discs so how you gonna take it on the go and not have access to your discs?

yeah there are so many underlying factors
them pulling up that 85% argument as a justification for their decision is stupid because statistically it's super flawed

And who do you think made these decisions?
And who do you think made these decisions?

And who do you think made these decisions?
I don’t think anyone decided one way or another. I think realities of technology are constantly shifting and products adapt to that. CDs, for instance, would never have been used in computers if you could just quickly digitally download something. But technology advanced, internet got faster, and that became feasible. So now we have these thin, super powerful laptops with fast download soeed and no need for disc drive. PC gamers have fast WiFi-cards but don’t buy a reader/writer for their rig. What is and isn’t possible is constantly changing and products reflect that.
