Sorry are a London-based band comprised of singer-songwriter duo Asha Lorenz and Louis O'Bryan, with Lincoln Barrett, Campbell Baum and Marco Pini joining for live performances.
After two mixtapes in 2017 and 2018, they released their debut album 925 in 2020, followed by the Twixtustwain EP in 2021 and Anywhere But Here album in 2022. Their sound is hard to define, with a strong Post-Punk influence that also takes a lot from Trip Hop, Jazz, Hard Rock, and Indie Pop.
Got recommended their debut album 925 one night on Spotify and instantly became my 2020 AOTY, showed them to IRL friends and they're already in their top-listened to of the year
These guys are doing something different for real, it's atmospheric sleepy sexy indie rock, but with this crueler hard edge and detached female vocals that immediately stands apart from what people like Black Country, New Road are doing
The production choices are insane too, like I haven't heard a record that SOUNDS this good since the 2018 version of Twin Fantasy. Their sound palette and song structures are so inventive, I haven't been so interested in a new band in forever, legit think this could be the start of something big
If you're at all into UK indie give these tracks a shot, hopefully you'll see what I mean

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvFHa9MnQsUYesss man, it's crazy how much different stuff they try on that album and it all just works, the way that track builds at the end is immense, legit awe-inspiring
I keep recommending them to people IRL and they all end up amazed, I really think they're on to something man, their sound is genuinely new
I really liked the two songs in op but couldnt get into the rest of the album when I heard it. But it's also been a year
Spotify put me onto Mustapha, kinda like a UK goon fusion of Faiyaz and Sampha
F*** Apple Music!

Sorry (lol) man I thought I replied to this, so glad you enjoyed it dude, they're really doing something special, they took some time off their tour too to make their next album even better
It's cool how you took it as having a summery sound when they always feel very wintery to me, very resonant music
I'm gonna retool this thread into a general with a rundown of their discography sometime soon, I'm trying to turn more people on to them because they're crazy good and I think the pandemic got in the way of their momentum
They're back with a new single! Really beautiful sound on this one, shift from the darker tone of their debut, can't wait to hear the album

They've just announced their next album 'Anywhere But Here' will drop Oct 7! New single + vid for 'Let The Lights On' out now!

I tried 925 but it wasn’t really clicking
But the new singles for the new album are really great and I like a lot more. Let the Lights On is addicting. Love this song now
Maybe I’ll revisit 925 different time but def will check for the new one

Glad you're enjoying the new singles man, the album's produced with Adrian Utley from Portishead too, gives it more of a live sound
I love 925, but this new one's shaping up to be a serious competitor, I love the way they don't waste a second in their songs, just constant new ideas that flow seamlessly
The album's out and it's fantastic, check out Anywhere But Here wherever you get your music from, they just dropped a video for one of the best tracks on the album, 'Closer', my personal fave is 'Again', the production is INSANE

925 one of my favorite albums of the decade so far and singles for this have been excellent.
So excited to peep.
Turns out the geezers hid an entire secret album in the vinyl sleeve of Anywhere But Here through a hidden NFC tag, how can you not love em, check out the just-discovered Goodbye Sophomore now
The track 'New' at 23:44 here is incredible, if they don't release this on a proper project it'd be actual self-sabotage

New single! It's called Waxwing and it's fantastic, a new darker development in their sound, stick around for the Toni Basil - Mickey interpolation
