My Sassy Girl and Chingu/friend are a must watch.. before Oldboy and parasite.. these were the movies that you would show your friends to introduce them to Korean cinema

Also Shiri was a pretty important movie at the time it was like Korea’s first really big Hollywood style movie.

Bittersweet life is on amazon prime and if you like Korean gangster flicks and want to see a modern take on noir style s*** it’s def worth watching.. also might be one of the few times you see guns being used in a Korean flick

For Korean War films these three are a must watch

Taegukgi which is about two brothers during the Korean War.. prolly the biggest war flick from Korea

tbh most of the Korean films I know are from like before 2010 cause that’s when I was super into movies watching like 3 a day n s***. Haven’t really kept w Korean films since tho..

For s*** that’s on streaming burning and the handmaiden are must watch but you prolly seen those already

Also early 2000s Kim ki duk films are a must watch for ppl who like the more artsy type s***

Also save the green planet. Don’t remember this cause watched a while back but I remember it had some buzz. Korean sci fi type s*** also starting dude from mr vengeance

To this day Oldboy will always be my fave Korean movie.. prolly cause when that s*** came out I was still young and never seen anything like that before so it really had a lasting impression on me or whatever. Almost made me wanna pursue film in college. Damn I miss being young when literally anything felt like a possibility
