Basically, someone found some metal s*** and found a magnet and decided to play with it under a microscope. The real sauce of it all is that they can make that s*** dance. Remember that video of the dancing cockroach? Same thing applies here but we making metal hit moves it’s never seen before. I say in the next 5 years they may catch up to square dancing. The next 10, jerking. In 20 years, the remaining metals on earth take over whats left of human civilization with various tiktok dances. It’s so over.

    good video on the topic

    some informed speculation

some less informed possibilities on the use of this

    "from my limited understanding:
any power electronics (including computing chips)
    magnetic levitation
superconducting power storage (might replace batteries?)
    industrial magnets (including electric motors)"

Wikipedia is very up-to-date with the state of research

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LK-99

BTW the researchers seem to have patented the stuff last year
and supposedly the author of the paper didn't have approval for publication from his colleagues.

So lets not go too crazy yet

All the fat headed nerds with blue checks in the comment section feel so smug and superior for knowing what it means but won't explain it to anyone.
