This was interesting and I loved the ending, but a little tired of them being so meta. Their attempt at kind of critiquing the last couple years of the show falls flat because this is really not that different
This is a spin off we talking about although so you can't compare

Ehh I mean I feel like I can compare it to the pandemic special at the very least
I donât think I see this as a true spin off. Either way itâs like theyâre talking about what they did wrong in the last couple years and yet theyâre doing mostly the same stuff here.
Honestly hope the running joke of this post covid storyline is that cartman actually genuinely changed.

The show was born meta

the special was actually pretty good and writing was some of the best theyve had in awhile but I'm disappointed with the route they took lowkey after the ending of the prior special. the ending of the last special seemed like the point was to go full circle in the show and return things to normal on a meta-level from a series of chaotic twists and turns (mirroring the path of the show itself experimenting with things like the serialization and specials themselves for example), going back to its roots with stuff like mr hat coming back and mr garrison going back to teach. i know it was left open ended with the whole broship stuff but it feels like taking another huge meta-twist by jumping into the future and doing this weird series perspective/character study thing completely defeats the entire point of the ending of the last special.
The show was born meta
It didnât become so heavy handed until âYouâre Getting Oldâ. Thatâs when every speech at the end of every episode became Matt and Trey going on about how the show isnât what it used to be

yeah I enjoyed the special a lot. But even the stuff they say in the episode contradicted itself. Theyâre saying they lost their sense of fun arguing about COVID but theyâre still pretty bogged down in it all. I know the show has always been about current events but since the troll season it has just been too much about that
Canât really believe they unironically did the whole âcomedy is impossible because of wokenessâ either, that was lame
First time watching South Park in years. That Post Covid episode was solid, genuinely looking forward to part two.

I liked Pc principal and tegridy farms seasons

Iâm not saying I hate everything since then, I enjoy all the seasons to some extent but it feels like theyâre a little stuck right now. This time jump is cool but I hope they go back to basics a little bit after. I enjoyed this special a lot but it also left me with some concerns

i feel like the show's been having issues ever since like 2015-2016. they really messed up with the stuff leading up to trump especially mismanaging the planned serialization and having to scrap entire storylines (the member berries for example) and rushing replacements, and the show's kinda struggled with continuity and consistency ever since.
way too many examples of them contradictory the entire point of meta stuff and inconsistencies coming out in seasonal writing. it hasn't effected the quality of writing per-se itself episodically but it's disappointing in terms of reflecting content back over the course of the whole series' growth
The show was born meta
this is true but i wonât lie the âthis is the futureâ joke got old af real quick
Lmao now Iâm curious how many d***gy covid vaccine deniers there are
