  • I wholeheartedly consider Purrp to be amongst the greatest artist in hip hop history. The entire aesthetic, sound, and business model of hip hop shifted between 2010-2014, when Purrp was reigning as king of the underground. His later works have gained retrospective acclaim as well, and has only gotten bolder and wilder over time. He is like if Memphis Rap never left the lo-fi tape hiss of your but instead crashed on Mars and was made by aliens living in similar conditions as the auteurs of Memphis Rap. Purrp is simply a genius, who fundamentally changed how music was consumed in the 2010s, especially within rap. Deny it all you want, but he is the Dre, Kanye, etc, of 2010s hip hop.

Personal favorites: Purrple Haze, Winters Mine 5, Dark Angles, Overkill 2, Rihanna's Baby Daddy, God of Miami, King of Miami EP Pt. 2, Winters Mine 3, The Winters Mine, Blood Red Moet, Florida Flame EP Pt. 1, Florida Stick Drill, Mardragon+, GXX XX XXXXK EP 1, Lost Tapes 1991-1993, Lost Tapes 1994-1996, Lost Tapes 1997-2000, Miami Carol City, Purrple Haze 2, VAMPIRE LIFE THE MIXTAPE: FREE JIM JONES, Dark Angel Instrumentals, Dragon N No Slime, Larry Bird Season, Mysterious Phonk: The Chronicles of SpaceGhostPurrp, BMW, Intoxxxicated, Blackland Radio 666 Pt. 2 - Episode 1, and Veneno

Eh, he was lauded among almost every user on this site’s predecessor if I remember correctly. I’m unsure if his contributions and influence have been as memorable as you’d like to believe.
