If you are new to this name, I wouldnt be ashamed or feel like you were sleeping. This man is primarily known in Spain. I didn't know who he was until I saw his name in a list as one of the greatest singer's in Spain. His artist name is unique "Pedro Ruy Blas"

BUT that isn't what drew me in. That's cool but what is he singing? Why am I going to spend time looking up his work? Why do people worship this man?

What i found out is Pedro Ruy had a pop/rock beginning, he sang the sound of the day and he put out a few single's. But what he did after that was remarkable. He formed a ensemble called "DOLORES"

Dolores is quite something & speaks to the chaotic creative times Spain was throttled to. Some might say prog rock, but i would say that is being lazy. Encompassing jazz-funk-flamenco-afrolatin and using various electric instrumentation, it is quite the revelation to hear this for the first time. You get a glimpse to Spain's majesty for their music scene in the 70's. Using a spring board of likely influences: Miles, Herbie,Genesis,Weather Report,Yes, perhaps Zappa some flamenco singers of their era, just a very unique sound.

Another unique thing about Pedro is, he's an accomplished drummer. Which means, when this band would do live gig's, he would play the drums and sing!

There's a lot to like in these 4 record's, each one has their unique style & flair. Dolores should be remembered and even though he sings in spanish, you are going to feel what he's singing.

This one here will hook you, regarded as one of the greatest vocalists in Spain. Playing the drums with that shuffle & singing like that. Goat group, goat run for their country. All records collected for the fam, with all artwork grabbed off discogs. 😭

some of you are missing out, this is 4 lp’s out of print of this fantastic group that i put together for drop fam. 😒basically their whole run, very different & ahead of their time. highly suggested, amazing instrumentation, it’s only on youtube. what a tragedy.

This really is one of the greatest groups, birthed in a volatile revolution and just insane energy. Amazing singer & his drumming abilities are through the roof. Pedro is the truth. I can’t imagine him live on stage singing this while playing the drums, but that’s what he did in performances. 😳
