eversinceit is impressive that the younger generation lack in reading, spelling, and writing
well it all starts at home and when the parents are too busy trying to keep up with a failing economy that they need some time to relax after a long day of hustling, all they can do after their kid gets home from after school activities (if they even put them in there) is to put a screen in front of them because it’s the only time the adult has a semblance of peace in the current world. It’s a lot deeper than just kids suck at reading and it all starts at the failing system which parents are being forced into in the name of capitalism. parents are inherently not lazy, they are deeply involved, but even the boomer grandparents who never used screens when raising their child inevitably give the child a screen because it’s too much to keep up plus keep up with yourself and helping your family survive the new world

It’s not letting your kid be stupid for your convenience, there is literally just a breaking point if you have ever been around any parent in this new world where the kid needs that distraction so you can breath cause the kid needs constant attention when they get bored or encroach upon your time relaxing which is mad limited today

most people are prepared to have children but nobody could be prepared for the new world we live in man. plus many people have accidental children, very common especially when you give up trying. what point are you trying to make? Nobody has lived in an AI/tech influenced world as a parent until now, how do you possibly prepare for something when you are still trying to figure out how to balance it yourself in real time while getting older every day and wanting kids? (Phone/internet usage)

I am a brand new parent and I gladly sacrifice some time to myself for that.
when I'm home I'm playing with her or walking with her outdoors. I am never putting a screen in front of her. ever
when we eat dinner she sits with us and we talk and if shes fussy I just pick her up for a minute or get down on the floor and play
I'd advise not have kids to people who cant sacrifice for their kid

But it reaches a point where buddy has to make dinner for both of his toddlers and they are nothing but going crazy where he can’t keep his eye off of them. so insert the screen to keep them in one spot so buddy can get some relief and actually continue taking care of his kids with a well balanced meal. Like ya’ll are only seeing this new world from one perspective when time has been severely limited for many parents today to be able to sit back and “roll around with their kids.” Like that’s just no realistic man unless you have the immense privilege of extra time in your life

just saying i've been surrounded by parents who have let screens be a third caretaker. i'm basically one of these kids. it f***s up your understanding of social skills and basic comprehension. numbing your brain with cocomelon videos until it's taken away, then suddenly that toddler becomes a frustrated mess otherwise
