with how Hulk reacted to Peter, and how he simply gave up in the fight, i really hope this leads into SOMETHING about bruce and hulk’s relationship in a later movie
i feel like they tried to finish his story with Endgame (becoming the best of both worlds) but this feels like the start to something new
I see now why Ruffalo was pitching new Hulk ideas to DDC they really reopened the doors
So power scaling wise now where does Pete rank after the power buff beast mode he unlocked at the end of the movie
I’ve seen theories it’s the symbiote slowly manifesting itself but if it isn’t he has to be top 3 now right or the strongest
Wanda
Thor
Sentry(?)
Hulk
Cap Marvel
Namor
Pete
I don’t know man it felt like more forced nostalgia. It felt like they brought all that in to get people into seats.
yes, but every movie they do is to bring people into seats…
like i said i know its a gimick but they pulled it off spectacularly, while giving us a cool multiversal chapter for Spidey, while touching base with all-spidey fans across the medium
idk it worked for me, but BND is technically a better film for sure, just my opinion that NWH is just top tier for me, for the sheer insanity and fun of it all and how well they managed to tie it all together
Did not think there would be such an issue with Jean Grey killing people until twitter and YouTube jeeze Louise

Only youtube vids I seen so far were Cosmonaut and Double Toasted and didn’t see any comment on that

Actually praising they took Jean from boring to interesting

People seems to forget Jean is THAT b****
Not until Prof X helps and guides her, she’s reckless
And still with the help, she is a mess
Glued to my seat every second of this movie. Might be the best Tom Holland Spider-Man film.
9.5/10

I was kinda on the fence about it but i actually think its a perfect Segway into the humans vs mutants conflict that will eventually come if they do it right. The company has a way to suppress mutants because of spiderman and jean greys rampage is a very valid reason to give a bad name to mutants
I thought the emotional core was the best part of the movie. The memory loss stuff anyway. The love conquers all fantasy, her telling him she doesn't love him, the gentle reintroduction. I have no attachment to these characters, and all of that worked on me. Could've just been a dramedy premise like About Time or something.
But a billion dollar blockbuster can't just be that. There's the second puberty thing where Spiderman tries HRT to fix his mood swings, but ultimately accepts his machismo. So revanchist. Punisher going the other way to find a middle ground. Peter finding new father figures once again with Hulk. I thought this was a movie about him becoming a man. Sadie Sink getting a whole plot to support whatever X Men thing they're doing. Bloat bloat bloat.
A lot of the action feels like video game cinematics to me, but that's par for the course anymore and people like video games. The theater is an amusement park.
This is coming from someone who forgot Marissa Aunt May was dead. So you're probably on a different type of time than me.

The morality geniuses who are only concerned with who is good and who is bad and if it's okay to like them. They really need a second idea about the movies they watch

My concern is that Singer's X Men used the lens of homosexuality to talk about that conflict. After the original used the lens of race with the Civil Rights movement setup.
Do they have an angle this time?

Didn’t this happen when Marty Supreme dropped??
Jean is not beyond redemption if Loki can be forgiven

"Bear is the villain" is about all they have to say about the movie. Really oversimplifies how the movie is framed, what motivates the characters, all the themes it explores. Michael Douglas is also the bad guy in Fatal Attraction. These are cautionary tales! The perspective character is who needs to learn a lesson!

They did say they were inspired by the video games for their action sequences so that might explain that lol

The action sequence where he's on comms with the police captain lady

As someone who struggles with superhero movies, I relate a lot to your first paragraph. Tethers on being hokey but it's in the nature of these things and Tom Holland and Zendaya are a delight together.
The HRT read is super interesting even if it didn't spring to mind before I saw it mentionned. I thought more of antidepressants and their supposed inhibitive effect on artists and mathematicians.
Combat choreography was great but I wasn't impressed with how timid and simplistic the setpieces felt, we're far from Raimi's propulsiveness and Spiderverse's ADHD-core affect.

It's not a literal read or anything. Jean Grey is hopping between bodies and there are identity crises and masculinity is a topic between Peter and Punisher. So talking about nature versus nurture and augmenting the body brings it to mind.
The mutants have always represented the "other". That is the scapegoat of the present.
I'm often numb to chase sequences anymore. Any kind of movie really. The Bond franchise probably the exception. They still have that old magic
