You can play off nostalgia but you shouldn’t rely on it as the main gripping factor and selling point
Both Endgame and No Way Home relied way too much and didn’t focus enough on things that could’ve made the movies much better
They really had holland boxing dafoe as the final fight. S*** reminded me of the last of us 2
I don’t know how to explain it but I don’t feel that endgame and no way home are supposed to be “better movies”. They are fanservice in film form and I feel like most people know that when stepping in the theater
And that’s okay, not every movie is meant to do the same thing. Spider verse couldn’t rely on the live action nostalgia the way no way home could and as a result it’s story is tighter but on the flip side we lose the visceral reaction of reintroduction and closing the loop on previous franchises. I’m happy we get to see both and effectively have it all
