Honestly, my biggest issue with the film stems from the fact that Sandman knows Goblin died from his own glider and that Octavius knows Osborn is Goblin.

There's no conceivable way either of them would know that. Sandman/Octavius would know Osborn was "killed" by Spider-Man, Sandman would know Octavius dies. But not the details of Osborn's identity or that he was pierced by his own glider.

EDIT: Even if you say Octavius was "in the know" in Oscorp and could deduce the identity of the Goblin, there's no way Sandman would know about Goblin's glider.
