honestly you’re right. People defending him with the music/artist stuff are defending themselves for being ok with all this f***ed up stuff

His music is intertwined with him as a person. It’s like I’m not supporting him but I’m listening to the album, buying merch and going to watch the pedophile/human trafficker interview or whatever the Tate channel is

It be better to admit you’re a bad person or have no moral boundaries

He’s talking about Nazi’s, Jewish people and how he’s a rapist and shouting out other rapists on the music so what are doing atp

there’s so much better music to listen to

    So, what's next?

Do we shame Chris Brown fans over his abuse?
Jay Elec fans over his antisemitism?
    Kellz fans over his crimes?
    Diddy fans over his crimes?
Carti fans over his abuse and neglect of his kids?
    Kodak fans over his rape?
    XXX fans over his abuse?
    Tory fans for shooting Meg?
Or Snoop fans over his Trump support?

If so, it's gonna be a gang of niggas that should never be praised.

Personally, I just think people would be better off focusing on the artists they f*** with cause it's beating a dead horse at this point.

Too much diversity of music to focus on the same niggas anyway.

You have to decide that yourself

If rape and abuse don’t bother you then keep listening to diddy or whoever

You can’t stop people from calling it out. Sometimes shame is necessary

problem is Ye actually makes actual Nazi music. It's not even possible to separate the art from the artist atp

I never said anything about calling it out.

    I encourage calling things out.

But the OP started his thread off not criticizing the album or even criticizing Ye's character. But just getting mad that there's still an audience for Kanye.

To me, that's just unrealistic and not worth focusing on. I'd rather have a proper critique to care about something that's inevitable.

    I get that.

That's why it's better to just ignore Bully and let whatever fans there are for it do their own thing. I couldn't even tell you what's on the tracklist besides maybe the song with Skepta which I heard months ago.

Also, that's why I brought Jay Elect up.

A Written Testimony has antisemitic lyrics on it using Nazi-like language comparing Jews to Satan.(The "Synagogue of Satan" moniker is a common anti-Jewish trope). And he never backtracked from it.

Still a good album but Jay Elec is so lucky that he's barely mainstream like that cause he had Peter Rosenberg damn near ready to quit his job over it.

site stopped being named after him when we moved over here

    delusional to think otherwise

So what is KTT an acronym for

Why it would be the 2 if the first KTT is a different name

The site creator or global mods havent come up with a new acronym.

It may not be a Kanye site anymore but it is named after him

I think it's more complicated than that, the most salient point of it all to me is that the modern "art" industry intrinsically being enshrined in capital means people believe that if you disapprove of someone you can't consume (buy music, merch, watch interviews etc.) at all because it puts money in their pockets but I think what gets forgotten is that having these discussions and criticising people for listening achieves the same thing when it's all tallied up

I ultimately think its an indictment on capitalism and how it limits our abilities to think and act with nuance, because no truly earned benefit comes from censorship but with capitalism in place censorship and defunding is the only avenue we have to prove people are saying or doing stupid things, because publicly calling them out only helps them, “real life” pop culture has become wrestling

Supporting censorship against bad people is a slippery slope under capitalism because in the long run it'll only work against forces of positivity and enlightenment, under capitalism people have to give up their morals to provide for their families by working for people with evil behaviours, and I don't blame them for the position capitalism puts on them

In saying all that there is nothing left to say to people that still support him, he has said every single possible bad thing, his detractors have pointed out every bad thing he’s done, and his supporters are still there, they are either willing to turn a blind eye to it or are as stupid as he is

I can see the argument being made that maybe people have proven themselves to be too stupid and censorship is required to bring some sort of balance, but I don't trust it, if people are thoroughly educated and free we won't have to burn Nazi books (they would no longer exist) and we wouldn't have to worry about LGBTQ+ literature being burned either

I think the “seperate the art from the artist” conversation is complicated with artists like Ye, because throughout his career while he’s been boastful he very often portrays himself to be an a****** and a careless person, so by listening to him admitting that and agreeing with the sentiment it doesn’t mean I endorse him, but by streaming him it means I do, there’s no room to participate thoughtfully because me agreeing with him saying he's an a****** on a record is passive support

I think if we start saying things like "Ye is a one of a kind artist" or treat him as a Godlike figure we become disconnected from the reality that what he makes is a reflection of what has come before him and what has influenced him, what his influences and references are aren't all evil or reprehensible, and his work being a reflection of them means it can't be all evil

I respect anyone that chooses to not listen and not engage with Ye

Tl;dr: I should be able to engage with his music (critically & thoughtfully if necessary) without it being an open endorsement, but with capital being enshrined in art it means I can’t

anyone who thinks bully is nazi music or that kanye is actually a nazi is really dumb

anyone who has followed the guys career for over a decade should know exactly what is going on rn

just because he threw in some provocative bars it doesn't make it "nazi music"

I don't really f*** with any of them musically like that except maybe Snoop(prime music) and some Carti songs.

Never bought into the XXX hype personally.

But I'm more so saying that you shouldn't be shocked with artists still have audiences listening to them after being terrible people.

It's just a waste of time. Chris Brown going to drop another 30 track stat padding album and his audience is still gonna f*** with it. There's nothing you and I can say that'll change that.
