wtf is going on
never heard of her, not popping on tik tok, not an upbeat song - its a ballad
this shouldnt be doing these numbers lol
Depression music
I miss when Katy Perry and that YOLO s*** was dominating. At least it was positive and happy. Mad annoying thesae f***ing kids want to fake depression and be sad at the world

I hope they’re not faking it smh, it’s a serious issue
to be fair every once in awhile a lorde/billie figure pops up out of nowhere and has a huge song
the difference is the sheer record breaking size/streams this has done in the short amount of time thats puzzling
yes. crazy how we're literally becoming oldheads
i've said it before but we're like the dusthead Nas stans when soundcloud was popping.
"who are all these lil whatevers
always mumbling about nonsense"
that's literally what we're acting like RN
HAHAHAHA
i just listened to it and it’s not bad
not my cup of tea but i can see why it’s blowing up rn

feel like it's pretty valid for this generation to be sad about s*** lol

Breh gen z going thru it and for good reason. This argument stopped working like in 2014 lol. Everyone is actually depressed now.
We aint ever going back to no happy ass music lmfao
I don’t understand why niggas keep going with the “we’re old” shtick when there’s dumbass little kids littered throughout this mfer
I don’t see this song as a part of the “depression wave” tbh, if anything it seems like an escape from that - archetypal, melodramatic and syrupy as hell
It just so happens to use that trendy sound associated with that wave. It’s a hallmark card not a suicide note, it just looks like one
i literally never heard about this chick until my friend asked me if i knew about her yesterday. wtf is happening?
was gonna say good for her but read that she's a taylor swift fan so f*** this b****. industry plants
So the song was already shooting up all types of charts and getting huge numbers before the co-signs, it only turned into a bandwagon thing of people rooting for themselves for enjoying it sorta thing after the fact
We may have also overblown the significance of her being from Disney and the drama surrounding it. After breaking the song’s production, storytelling, sequencing/structure and melody down, I think people are genuinely enamored with it
While it isn’t the most instantly infectious song on some Post Malone s***, the melodic embellishments have good movement and each section has good continuity (like every hit song btw lol). It’s just melodramatic enough while having that Lorde edge so it has a sense of legitimacy
A cookie cutter kinda song in general but it’s liked for what it is. People are impressed with the songwriting, vocals and production of this trendy simple song and I guess she had enough followers on social media to get eyes on it, like a random with 20k Twitter followers has enough engagement to start a viral meme if they tweet something memeworthy enough
We may need to just pack it up trying to figure out why it’s so big lol
serious brave
Also this is 100% bot listens and stream farms. Music is not crack no one is going to be that enamored over a first single. I'm surprised they didn't make it look more believable.

Man shut up
The oldest of Gen Z (1997) is like 23/24 now. They were literally the target of that Katy Perry stuff back in the day.
If you're talking about people born in the 2000's so many of them put on this fake depression vibe and it's disrespectful to people who are actually mentally ill like me. I hate that f***ing bullshit. It irks me alot. They have no reason to be so cynical and s***.

Sad does not equate to depression.
Depression is not wanting to get out of bed because you feel like you have no purpose. I've been clinically depressed and diagnosed and have to take medications for it.
Seeing people born in the 2000's call "depression" an "aesthetic" is literally a punch in the face to me.
Shame on them.

Bro. People are reasonably sad man idk what u want kids to do lmfao. Its not a joke/brand to alot of people esp these days.
u right that clinical depression doesnt equate melancholy/ sadness but kids don’t understand that nuance. depression = just sad to them. The details aint taught in a class. Just cut em some slack and instead of ridiculing em see if they actually need help. Cause alot of em aint joking, no matter how juvenile and melodramatic they may come across when expressing it. Nothing good comes out of thinking that kids cant get diagnosed with depression or just brushing it off as an aesthetic 100 percent of the time.
There are kids that do tho, and that sucks, but ppl should take it seriously regardless cause you nevet know when it comes with adolescences. My cousin hella dramatic, and one that youd probably think is using depression as an aesthetic. Meanwhile her father is a meth addict and they can barely keep a home.
corporations that capitalize off depression are a bigger problem imo.
