    Poolboy Q

So you’re telling me that planes were crashing and catching fire before all this, it’s just the media is reporting it now?
swear Yall can’t be this stupid

It was always reported it just wasn’t as visible because now social media accounts that wouldn’t report s*** like this are .

Niggas don’t know about fear mongering

It’s statically still the safest form of travel

We've been in a weird plane era for years going back to Boeings issues (i feel like people forgot this era already). Close calls, near collisions, and engine issues have been a trend for a while now.

Now that there was the collision at DCA, there's going to be far more attention given to every little instance of plane malfunctions by media.

Last sentence is true. The rest isn’t. This is not normal.

  • joe byron administration failed to upgrade FAA infrustructure + more incompetent leadership now = plane crash

In one google search I found this same thing that happened in op happen in 2024
    2023
    And 2022

One big plane crash happened and filmed and went viral now everyone is hyper aware.

Media does this all the time remember when they made it like it was an epidemic of niggas beating up Asians after the pandemic?

    Bird strikes arent uncommon
Engines are rated to only handle small birds like 3 lbs or something

Geese weigh 6 so geese and large ducks if ingested directly into an engine will cause engine problems

The plane that ditched in the hudson forever ago had an all engine failure due to birds

The interesting thing is that a pilot can fly a plane perfectly fine w just one engine. It is still an emergency situation, but its one every pilot trains extensively for. Same w all engine failure. The hudson plane was unique bc it was a all engine loss at low altitude, but now they train for that as well

u would think we have some high frequency technology that can like make birds change direction or some s***

Still sketchy. We can look at statistics all we want but at the end of the day, you are in a tin can in the sky

I’d rather be in a car, bus, or train any day of the week

It’s insane there’s a form of travel that’s so tense and strict and people act like it’s not a big deal

Plane travel is inherently dangerous by nature. Humans weren’t meant to fly

Now I’m not completely ignorant, plane travel is incredibly important and an incredible human innovation/invention

But it’s not some completely safe no risk form of travel.

It’s the highest of risks anytime you get in a tin can and fly through the sky with a ton of random strangers

If social media was as big as it is now in 2010

They might have tried to ban flight

i mean you can make the same argument about sea, which was (still is) a dangerous form of travel for many centuries. Storms, risk of stranded, diseases, wrecks, piracy and in the middle of oceans with no one to help you not even comms.

Humans weren't "meant" to really travel at all by your explanation. There's no form of travel without risks, and commercial flying is still young by historic measures and very much a work in progress like trains and cars used to be.

If you can get to a place reasonably in a bus, car, train, then of course that's preferred. The average person doesn't fly consistently at all.

'humans werent meant to fly' the entire economic system of the world is held together by international trade and air logistics, you tell those guys about it

  • u ok jay

i actually know a handful of people in real life who have regretfully cancelled trips because they don't want to fly due to all of this

the snowball of american capitalist austerity has come to a head

boeing decided having engineers and maintenance was too expensive while the US government decided having ATC employees were too expensive and they'd been continuously cutting both since the bush administration

This never happened before man ever ...why do you guys think?

There's been less commercial incidents this year compared to last year

When something goes wrong it becomes highlighted in the media and news. That's whats happening.
