People do not understand how to create boundaries. They don’t know how to recognize unhealthy obsession. They don’t have healthy coping mechanisms so they turn to celebrity worship as a form of escapism

Personally I’ve been a fan of pop music for a very long time, a fan of kpop music for a very long time. In general I consume a ton of media. I’ve seen the worst of kpop stans, actor/actress stanning, western artist stan, nba player stans, etc. But I’ve never ever came close to celebrity worship. It’s fun to troll about it online but too many people are way beyond that.

Taylor is my 3rd most listened to artist ever. I spent close to $9,000 for me and my wife to see her tour this year with the best floor seats. Clearly I’m a huge fan of her music but I do not care about her personal life, I don’t follow her socials, I haven’t bought an album of hers since 2014.

Most of the people deep into stan culture aren’t in a great place in their life. It’s been going on way before Taylor tho. Celebrity worship in general definitely needs to be in the DSM-V nfs
