This Schulz special is kinda mid
I like his podcast stuff and a lot of his older stand up but this felt off. He used to have good premises he’d build out a little, this one had some mid premises where you could kinda tell where it was headed and relied a lot more on tags and puns rather than the bit. The shock humor wares off. Some of it was solid, it’s not like it was terrible but paying for it plus all the hype kinda drags it down a little. A lot of it felt like it could have been expanded on a little and it would have helped a lot. He’s usually good at creating tension and holding the crowd in it for a little before the punch but this one it felt like he was trying to get through a lot of material in the hour.

I’ve watched in 3 or 4 minute segments every few days to see if people were just hating on Schaub or not and they’re not wrong it’s genuinely one of the worst specials ever. He deadass got worse from his showtime one lmao

The best parts were the ones he posted on YT, it’s definitely not worth $15 for the rest. He’s making “kinda offensive” jokes his entire personality now which sucks cause he’s genuinely funny without trying to fully commit to just one aspect of his appeal

That was my biggest concern as well, that this will be just a crowd work special with some edgy humor spliced in, coz I actually enjoy some of his material. I just thought he'd have some sort of structure to this.
