Rothaniel changed my opinion a little on “serious” specials. I still prefer all laughs, but the honesty and vulnerability definitely heightened the laughs that were there. Better than when I’ve seen comedians try the same thing, like Chappelle, Sean Patton, neal brennan.
It never felt like a hard left, it never preached, it had empathy for all, it never took away from the funny parts, it always paid off. I just felt good after watching it, really rare thing there.

Bird Revelation was missing real intimacy to be S-tier

the message to the teacher is one of my favorite bits

That’s easily the best thing in here. The rest is passable.
Went to a taping of Louie’s new special. A-tier material.
Don't really follow the guy but has he ever addressed the controversy, or he just moved on

Watch Sincerely
It came out in 2020
He spent 10 mins on it near the 45 min mark
Cheeseburger by Andrew Santino out on Netflix
First 20 minutes kinda meh but it gets pretty good in the middle
Watched Louie's last special Sorry the other day - probably one of his best work. Had be howling, especially the first half.

just seen a Geoffrey Asmus set was actually very good
breh does this self affirming monologue under his breath throughout the entire set "great joke.", "yeah im the best." never seen someone do that and its funny
like a unique spin on the constant self deprecation in comedy
lol at all the korean stand up being s***comedy. korea so prude and conservative when it comes to s***makes sense i guess.. this like their way of being edgy lol
also crazy that stand up didn’t even exist in korea till like a couple years ago.
Some bits were funny then it just kinda fell off when he started going on about the tired cancel culture comedian staple. There was a wheelchair segment after that which I liked, then a heartfelt dedication but overall, could've been funnier. Felt like the cancel culture rant really screeched everything to a halt and even the jokes after were diluted with that.
I just improv’d an entire comedy album
14 tracks - 40 mins
Reply if you’re interested in hearing it

His crowd work that he posts on TikTok is amazing, but his overall standup is kinda hit and miss for me. I love his relationship stuff, but I agree with you, the cancel culture thing didn’t hit for me as much. Still one of my fav young comics though.
