am i missing something ? im going to Venus at level 4 I’ve felt no drive to explore these bland planets and all I do is get to a planet talk some bullshit get on a ship watch a cutscene get to space open a menu watch a cutscene get to space again open a menu watch another cutscene land on a planet talk about some bullshit and repeat

That's the game unfortunately. Most of the planets are useless procedurally generated nothing.

People can argue as long as they like about how it's different than their other games but the simple fact of the matter is they made a mistake and their games work better in a smaller, lovingly designed area. I genuinely cannot believe how much walking there is through absolutely NOTHING to get to points of interest on planets. And people online are going hard letting them know that so hopefully the next game isn't like this

you have to go to the places like cities start side quest then go to the planets. Just going to planets exploring out right has less to do and sometimes things won't start the given side quest until you know it exist

Go to Akila, Neon , New Atlantis and pick up side quest, get a job then explore with the side quest knowledge and factions

if you just land on random planets and aren't picking up the side quest located in major cities you are doing yourself such a disservice

If you aren't doing side quest or main quest and just purely landing on planets

    Nah it’s a classic I’m afraid

Bethesda is back. Their best game in over a decade

  • Sep 2, 2023

you are just landing on random barren lifeless planets that have no cities expecting side quest to jump out at you ?

You have to go to the major city hubs first gather quest then explore. It also gives you and teaches you the mechanics that way opening up the game more. I have like 4-5 people I could have on my ship I need to make it bigger. I can research making outpost and do so many other things. If you just go planet to planet shooting things but not accepting or finding sidequest its the oddest way to play the game

Id rather explore boring planets that have materials that actually do something for your characters than come across random alligators/bears or KKK encounters that do nothing besides being “immersive” to the world

I have come across distress signals, A long form conversation with an AI, a mass shooting , manufacturing d****, terrorist, gangs , police corruption, a prison break and so many other things its genuinely insane

Personally I'm not really impressed anymore by the same things that impressed me when I was 12 but

Also there are more shouts (and far more word walls) than powers

genuine question btw not trying to hate

No its a fair genuine question. Also you dont have to do space menu to do a lot of these portions. You can and its ease of use but you don't have to you can target a planet in distance and grav jump to it. You just cant float or fly all the way there. Likely design decision so it wouldn't take 30-60 to multiple hours to navigate all of space but I understand those that want to float more in space or more in the space unknown. I have seen many ships to board, dock with, random space stations that lead to side quest and so much content but just going to planets and exploring vs finding central side quest will not hit.

The stealth in this game improves later once its upgraded some. Consider applying to Ryujin industries in Neon . That pathway will improve your stealth and show you more of the mechanics but I still wish there was a cleaner cut stealth kill, silenced pistol that felt like splinter cell, weapons that made them sleep and easier way to hide bodies etc. Maybe there is but I dont know yet.

im not going to random planets im following the main quest but im doing absolutely nothing but having the 8 thousand systems in this game barely explained to me and then using menus to travel

I think im waiting for this game to have its stepping out of the vault moment but so far it just feels like their attempt to make this game feel more vast actually ends up making it feel smaller than the worlds of fallout or elder scrolls to me

  • Sep 2, 2023

im hoping theres a moment this all clicks together for me but I dont think it should take like 10 hours

you gotta do the exploring yourself. they didn’t put marks on the map for every lil side mission or secret. if you don’t feel the drive then maybe it’s cuz you haven’t found anything good yet? but it sounds like you haven’t rly tried

there is less literal stepping out of the vault moment and more go do whatever you want to do in the game. Again you can work a job or multiple jobs. Go undercover. Steal. Manufacture d****. Smuggle d****. Sell harvested organs and much of that can be done in early early hours. I have a friend that it was 8 hours before he even met Sarah Morgan. He just went and did content and side quest its all there but if the main quest isn't gripping you I do have to recommend doing the side quest. There are entire mechanics it teaches you in the side quest. Main quest i just got to the great unknown and I am like 24 hours into the game .

Yeah you are all good you can grav jump by looking at a planets direction if close to it

    this shows it best.

that makes sense i think I’ll try ignore main quest when I get on tonight and just bounce around some planets and see what’s happening

In fact I would say there is the fewest markers of possible side quest I have seen for any game. You have to talk to random people, hear conversations, observe environment then follow leads.

I think he just doesn't realize how differently this game operates in some senses. How you can be doing something random then a new side quest or option pops up that normally in another game would just lead to one mission and money leads to money, a gun, a ability or mechanic being introduced and possibly 5-6 hours of content
