And the issue really is look at Tariq, his character doesn’t say any cliche s***. At least I haven’t noticed. The way they throw it in from side characters just comes across cheap

Also it might not be the actual wording but how they have the actors deliver the lines. Like “here say these commonly used lingos in the most over the top cliche way possible”

It comes across as if they want us to recognize these characters are saying this s*** as a way to appear “hip” and “cool”.......”look guys we know the trendy lingos look look”

I guess for me, a lot of the djalogue is relatable. To me it's very natural. Like I don't really know how I'd expect these characters to talk. Lingo in general is just how people talk and nothing else.

For the students, you can tell that there's only a few black kids in the whole school. So you have a square like Malcolm, who I'm like bruh... you tripping. Or even the parents or most of the non-black student characters acting on some uppity or white ass nigga s*** (which I don't mean derogitorily). For me it's almost kind of refreshing, cus it feels like these kids are confident enough to be themselves amidst the environment. You have Bonquisha who's really in it, you got Lauren who's a little in between at times, but even to me, Scooby (the white homeboy lol forgot his name) just seems like a dude who's super comfortable around Tariq. He don't seem acting black to me at all. He seems really relaxed even in tense situations, and can gel with multiple types of people

So anyway long story short, I guess I enjoy the djalogue. It seems very natural to me. If anything the teachers and parents are the ones who seem like they have forced or unnatural djalogue
