so lets confirm - they have straight up stopped replying emails at this point right?
Emailed a few days ago and got no reply. Usually they’re quick
you guys invested in donda academy
being serious now this sucks for all not only for people who actually ordered it
you guys invested in donda academy
Donda academy kids gonna be in music class learning to play the stem player before commercial units ship
I'm considering a refund...
Bro same I kinda need the money rn too, but I also want this player

i’m so broke rn it’s so tempting.
Stay strong
the more I think about, the more I see this as a terrible impulse buy... like, its super cool, but I'm not a DJ or anything, and the stems will be leaked the second these things get delivered.
KANO:

yeah I understand that artists can use the same sounds over and over, but compared to the congas and real drums from other albums, this sounds so plain and basic
the 808 even if it sounds different, it starts from the same root sound, they just add different distortion/compression and different notes
nonetheless I still love the album
today I listened to it entirely during work and didn't even realized it
All 808s are basically a similar root sound, I think a majority of producers probably use the same couple 808s all the time, it’s not a sound where variety matters as much as for a clap imo. Also there’s a chance that you’re thinking they’re the same because 808s just don’t vary that much and are bound to sound the same
Like anything else that you buy from Kanye in July or August, don't expect to get it until December-February.
My thoughts on why they haven't shipped yet as someone who does product management for a living;
1) the players are built but ye still hasn't provided a 4-track donda mix to the manufacturer
or
2) they haven't yet hit the minimum amount of orders required to meet their margin goals so nothing has been built besides prototypes
I'm generously inclined to agree with #1. My thought had always been that, like the album itself, Kanye was indecisive about what to put on the stem player. For all we know, it could be about clearing further songs or mixes that may end up on the next version of the album (which was my actual thought all along).

I think I agree. Though it seems Mike Dean is locked in on Utopia at the moment and i'm sure it will be a couple months before he works full time with Kanye again...so I guess December timeline makes sense
