yeah so what jayson's got one of the best pens in the game

  • That's funny. Q never made Section 80, GKMC, TPAB, or Damn.

I like Q but to pretend that Kendrick was just for nerd kids in high school?

I guess it pays to write delusional op ed's.

Not gonna lie i was a big Q fan early on because he was entertaining and relatable in his songs. Never got that same vibe from Kendrick though i also was f***ing with him then too

Control system cilvia demo thib h&c and ctrl all better than s80 and dare I say gkmc

yeah i was kinda triggered when he said that lmfao. Tryna big up his most mid project in the process

When he said he scrapped two albums worth of stuff because it was "too similar to BFLP"

    Hits on GKMC:
    B**** Don’t Kill My Vibe
    Backseat Freestyle
    Money Trees
    Poetic Justice
    M.A.A.D City (First half)
    Swimming Pools

    Hits on DAMN:
    Humble
    DNA
    Loyalty
    Element
    Love

    6-5

I think your assessment is right.

  • Idk about this. Literally everyone from nerds to jocks were saying ya bish non-stop when GKMC dropped in highschool. It was pretty universally played if we’re talking pre-Swimming Pools then yeah it was mostly blog rap heads listening but no one was really listening to Q like that back then either

DAMN is the best Kendrick album

Fear and Feel top 5 kendrick

q is defo underrated, i remember when tde had their initial buzz, he was dismissed as a 'vibe' rapper. now look at the music that is successful these days - the frequency is the driving force whilst lyrical content has taken the backseat. Truly ahead of his time

hmm GKMC has more technically & they all performed great (I’m assuming) but also the two albums aren’t drastically different in # of hits & DAMN has the bigger ones (I’m assuming)

would DAMN or GKMC be considered his hits album?

Those would be historic plays. Popular takes into account recency. His point is just wrong.

idk what this proves, GKMC was pre streaming and most of these plays are from years ago.

Humble a good song, but I'm just saying compared to the f***in party classics on GKMC it's not as good

plus it's just got overplayed in 2017/2018 idk how anyone can deny that

  • Jan 20, 2022

I feel like this is an apple and oranges kind of thing.

Also good that someone is talking about Q in the first place. Miss that man 🥺

According to Chart Data, the Compton-bred MC's 2017 LP has now spent 200 consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200 chart. The Pulitzer Prize-winning, triple-platinum DAMN. was released on April 14, 2017 and hasn't left the Top 200 since it debuted at No. 1 with roughly 603,000 total album-equivalent units. Feb 16, 2021

truss me in 2017 that was the song of the f***in year especially with that video. I jus think party anthem wise GKMC has way more and better aging songs, maybe the nostalgia hasn't hit for Damn yet.

like there's no way u playing Element or Love at a party now

The new phenomenon is to hate on anything remotely artistic to overcompensate for years of where they dismissed anything remotely pedestrian

Like the cornballs they are, all they can do is go from one extreme to the other

    Nobody drops heat anymore

Hardly anyone in rap drops something that pushes the genre forward, so they have to go back to when hip hop was interesting
