Damn I liked the trailers too…
He said the trailers had none of the third act he lied there too
Bro ain’t made a hit since RPO
I think this also made more than expected since initially it was $35m
Walk ups played a big role in the increased business. Think the divisive reaction is making people want to watch for themselves
Divisive reaction and nothing out other than furious obsession which I’ve seen
This was a movie I would walk out and ask for credit for my next movie but I have a list . Still had to pay for parking but since power out at place still due to storm it was worth it
It’s just with some feedback this could have been a much better movie . It’s like they did one draft of the script
While technically original this isn’t so much a win for original movies if anyone other than Spielberg directed this reviews would be much lower

I just think with how dogshit the film climate nowadays is, it’s a miracle even Spielberg was able to get a film like this made
Original films only happen now if they cost under $10 mil and are horror or if it’s Nolan
Even that new David Robert Mitchell movie is so heavy handedly ripping off Spielberg

This feels like a movie you would watch in school cause you he teacher loosely ties to what’s occurring in class
I can’t view this as a risky film when so much of the budget is generic action and plot points that are arguably the weakest part of the film . The film was selling “ how would the world react to aliens “ and this movie focuses on other parts

Just got out of this. I agree with you. Very disappointed about the premise & marketing of this compared to what it actually is.
For a movie touted as showing how the world would react to the open disclosure of extra-terrestrial life, it spends very little of what feels like an excruciatingly long runtime delivering that
Also could the design of the aliens been any less imaginative? Looked like literally any generic depiction of alien life in any movie or TV show over the past 50 years
I was ready to say this was fine, but I don’t know the ending hit me. Throughout the film I was digging it but not LOVING it. Something was missing, but it had great things like Blunt’s performance, a great score by John Williams, good direction in general. The writing felt a little hollow.
But I think all of this elements crescendo at the end when that Spielbergian wonder comes into play.
I didn’t expect anything crazy from the alien design but I don’t know the ending kind of hit me.
Like 3.75/5
Ending carried for me

That’s how I felt about One Battle After Another tbh
Feels like a Poli Sci teachers wet dream

They should have let bro make a xcom movie

The set piece to set piece of “ they chasing him what if they catch him “

I think where I differ from this is that I didn’t see this touting itself as something that would deeply explore what Disclosure would look like among the gen pop

It’s the title of the movie
This should’ve been called Days Before Disclosure

I felt like the main objective was the disclosure itself
I didn’t think we’d get there the way we did (mind you I didn’t really watch trailers aside the first)

There was a pretty big conversation about it between Josh and his girlfriend at the farmhouse

Right, I get that and that contributed to the film
However, as soon as I saw some of the sequences in the trailer my mindset went to “somebody’s going to try and stop them”

i'm sorry but they'd never show OBAA in class, it ain't nearly that corny

Some of the worst dialogue ever
