Yeah all those other crap that passes in the bill is included so certain people will approve it. Someone will say I won't vote in favor unless x y z gets included.

Is all bullshit. All that money could be reallocated into actual things that help communities long term.

all they care about it war is dumb af

then it shouldn’t be a one time payment lol that fixes the short term issue. all these issues with this country are not the fault of the people its the fault of the government and they should just do what they can to help its not our job to fix their f*** ups but its their job to help us

I've never been in favour of the one tine payment. I'm saying there should be no payment but debt forgiveness.

    Whether that is mortgage forgiveness
    student debt forgiveness etc

Debt forgiveness can’t help people that don’t have money to feed families.

Yeah, if you have money. Most people on debt do not have money hence why they're in debt.

One option guarantees that you will never feed your family and keep getting worse while the other gives you a fighting chance.

That $600 handout gives you minimal food.

If your making minimum wage and you have debt you're f***ed for life.

Now if you make minimum wage and have no debt you can save and have more options available.

It amazes me how people are bad with money. There's a wealth of information out there.

My 2020 filing would put me in a different bracket, but it sounds like my household is getting $1700 because we didn't bring in much in 2019.

We got $2900 when there were infinitely fewer cases

Genuinely one of the dumbest comments I've seen here. Just gonna take my debt forgiveness receipt down to the grocery store and trade it in for food

You can't save and fulfill your basic needs on minimum wage. You'd have to be living in the projects and dumpster diving for food all with no potential to ever have a child or even a pet

You would’t have to live in the hood... you just won’t live in a very desirable city and would have to live with a couple of people.

You can find houses well under $1000 for 3BR that aren’t hood, but also it isn’t going to be somewhere you’re excited about living.

Either way, the fact that it is conditionally possible doesn’t justify our paltry minimum wage.

Not in a major city, but the cost of living to minimum wage ratio is much better in smaller cities. With the rise of ordering online i see plenty reasons to move away from cities

Yea u right. I live in a very cheap, small city. Just did the math and if I made 8.15/ hr I would be able to save like 50 dollars a month on a strict food budget and no extra expenses after food/car/rent/phone. So at slightly over minimum wage I could technically save 600 dollars a year if I spent 0 dollars on going to the doctor, recreational activities, a pet, dating, streaming services, books, clothes etc. Could factor in a roommate but that's only reasonable to a certain age imo.
