artists' often exaggerate their experiences, feelings, make up stories, hell write songs about absolutely random benign s*** etc. it is very rare that an artist is 100% full on authentic in each and every single song that they release, and i'd argue if everyone was authentic, music would certainly be a lot more boring

no one is saying she has to be 100% factual but presenting an empty class message which does more to hurt class liberation than power it while as you say most people are not paying attention is a problem.

It literally does notWe just have this f***ed up idea now that everything an artist says on record means they believe it and it's coming straight from their mouth instead of them being a stand in to communicate an idea. We have a huge problem if people can only write about their immediate literal situation. We have eradicated true empathy as a society so we don't know what to do with it when it shows up in our music
