You have to be secure in the fact that you have great taste and enjoy the music you listen to even when people who’ve been listening to rap a fraction of the time you have try to question your status.
I like good music from the pop s*** you might hear in department stores to Daniel Johnston
If it has a good tune age or meaningful lyrics that connect or at least try to, I’m for it.

Debating other people's opinions=/=altering your tastes to fit societal norms. I love going back and forth about music for the fun of it, but I don't expect to change anyone's mind necessarily. But I don't think you HAVE to like something because a lot of people like it, or vice versa.
