What Saeed said about being uncomfortable with the word sustainable and not wanting to associate with what’s done in the name of sustainability is interesting, something that’s been on my mind in recent months. Becoming such an empty phrase to tag onto releases to try to engage a market

you'd struggle to find a brand that doesn't have sustainability somewhere in their brand statement anymore

it’s not the presence of the word so much as a projection of a really artificial ethos that I find harmful. I don’t care much about sustainable becoming a buzzword in fashion but I do object to it becoming a form of moral capital to be leveraged.

no i agree i just think sustainable becoming a buzzword ties in directly with the moral high ground that even fast fashion brands are starting to take
