That discourse has obviously ramped up in recent weeks because the finale was coming, but over the course of the show that definitely did not dominate the conversation episode to episode.

People just love these characters and love seeing them interact on screen. Which is why I’ve always said that Succession is just a sitcom disguised as a drama

Ted Lasso just ended and not a single soul is saying it belongs in the pantheons of all-time great television like they are right now for Succession, what kind of moronic prediction is this

I honestly don’t mind how things ended up. But the episode itself seemed so boring compared to the monumental episodes that led up to this finale. The last 15 minutes of the episode were cool though.

Yes. First two seasons were good, trudged through the s***ty third season, and dropped it midway season four. I had seen enough

succession is probably gonna be as well loved as any other prestige drama. to my mind what makes it even more special is the i fact that there really hasn’t been a great prestige show (i guess better call saul is an exception but i feel like succession is better) in over a decade so i’m loving it’s return in full glory. if you can’t appreciate how masterful the writing and acting is that’s on you. as far as the finale goes it was a masterpiece, it showed us exactly who every character was when it came right down to it and reified the core themes of each character in literal ways. roman never wanted to be the ceo, shiv cannot help but self sabotage, and kendall has no ability to follow through. it’s like logan said in episode 2 “we love them, but they are not serious figures.” they don’t have an eighth of the ability of someone like tom. they have never made anything in their entire lives. roman said it best “they are bullshit” and they lost everything because of it

why was season 3 s***ty? i don’t understand critiques like this because to me there’s no value to single word blanket adjectives like that. the writing was phenomenal every character moved closer to tragedy (the telegraphed ending) and we got to see some of the best acting in a tv show ever

I see where you’re coming from, and I wish I shared your viewpoint. The episode just did not leave a great final impression for me personally. To me, the ‘calm’ was dry and the ‘storm’ was underwhelming. And I hate saying that

agree to disagree, i personally feel that kendall screaming im the eldest boy while permanently shaming himself and losing his family’s legacy/dream was beautiful and enrapturing but to each his own

I loved that part. Kendall‘s self-destruction was iconic. We can agree to that being beautiful. I will say though, beyond that, there wasn’t really any other scene or dialogue in the finale that really felt on par with the rest of the season.

This is the face I pull and the stance I make when I realize there won't be anymore Succession Sunday ever again.
