I thought that was the case initially until they showed his body...then Roman going in and seeing him after (although we didn't see Roman's actual reaction to seeing the body I don't think his character is a good enough actor to manipulate the others that cruelly)

They wouldn't have been shown doing chest compressions. I was almost kind of hoping he was just doing it to manipulate Roman just to see him go to another layer of evil.
