This is so crazy, I was riding a rental bike yesterday in Central Park and was going down the hill. Out of no where a squirrel ran in front of me on the bike path and I think I tried to swerve another way to avoid hitting it and the squirrel got scared turned around and ran back, which made me hit both brakes on my bike to avoid hitting it.

Idk what happened next but I’ve been told I flew out of my bike and hit my head on the ground. I was out for like 2 min but then apparently got up and was responsive, stating my name and such. I don’t recollect any of that at all.

I only remember being loaded into the ambulance with a neck brace. Remember seeing blood on the ground.

Got to ER and had my head scanned and thankfully there was no bleeding or anything serious.

My face is all f***ed up on the left side and my arms have road rash and wounds. Had to get stitches on my chin and whole face has road rash and swollen.

I had throbbing headache yesterday and it still throbbing today but it’s getting better.

I’m just glad I’m alive and breathing

I remember when I suffered from a concussion that I used to hate it when I forgot something small, because I wouldn’t know if it was my mental that been like that or that it was because of the injury.
I don’t know if you relate, but anyway, hope you recover well. I’m sure that the squirrel gods are with you from now on :).

It just happened so fast, I didn’t even get to think. My hands just squeezed brakes and that’s it.

I think the reason for my fall was the front brakes.

It was a rental bike and I wasn’t sure which was back and front break.

If I used back break nothing would’ve happened. But since I was going downhill front breaks just threw me out.

Yeah right after, but the most annoying part is that I kept wondering if I changed or not. I recovered really well, take a lot of rest the first couple of days and limit your screentime. ❤️

Had a friend die from a four wheeler crash because he tried to avoid a dog running onto the street smh

I had a concussion from a bike accident too, though I don't remember it too well. got the cte scan and everything. first week or so I just stayed home and rested because even going to a grocery store the lights were too bright and it was too much for me

there was a lot of cloudiness in my head for like two or three weeks and then I started getting back to normal. didn't notice any lingering effects

you'll be alright OP but next time you know what to do. don't want your loved ones at your funeral talking about how much you valued squirrels

i only lost consciousness once and the other 2 were minor, but the recovery really is just a slow process of rest. it happened during the semester so i just let my professors know what was up and everyone worked with me

i definitely think i fully recovered. only down side is now any foggy day or times i have bad memory i can't help but think it's due to lasting effects from the concussion you'll be fine man just dont let yourself stress over it a ton and you'll feel good to go in no time

Concussions old news for me unfortunately lmao. First bad one at 6, next at 18, then my worst which included a skull fracture and brain hemorrhage earlier this year. So if u wanna chat about it with me I'm your guy ahaha. Wear a stupid looking helmet next time and look even cooler when u don't end up in hospital.
