Dead is a strong word. You may be right tho. By the mid 2000s it was on life support. If it wasn't for Ashanti and Bey's debut and then Usher's Confessions, it probably wouldn't have been as successful during that decade. Unfortunately there wasn't any big blockbuster R&B eras in the last decade, so the genre suffered quite a bit. It'll probably come back stronger soon
