my point is that up until sunday service became a thing you were always looking forward to the next kanye performance because he would always defy expectations

now all we get is the same s*** he’s been doing for at least 2 years

    even his movie was uninspired

Whenever I see someone hold 808s era up as how an era should be it's how I know they got into Kanye post 808s era.

Bar none his most hated era

    lmao this is so dumb

the only reason 808s was hated was a) it wasn’t hip hop b) people weren’t expecting it

pretty much the same with yeezus

f***ing chance the rapper has been doing sunday service in some capacity for the best part of a decade

its just christian rap my man

  • Feb 21, 2020

also if you think 808s was more hated than yeezus/JIK out the gates you must’ve just got outta that 2008 coma

Kanye’s 808s performances/promo run was straight up cringeworthy. Even my 13yo self knew that back then.

    Overrated.

It's a paradox so because All Day is the most underrated Kanye's song of all time

When has Chance ever done something like the Coachella performance where Ye built an entire Moutain?

When has a Christian rap artist ever had a set up like these or performed in places like the ones shown?

It's one thing to not like Sunday Service or Jesus Is King but to downplay it as typical when he's literally doing never before seen stuff at events like Coachella and filming concerts in places not even open for citizens yet is f***ing insane.

These performances have had entire set ups never before seen or done tied to them.

Alot of them like building an entire mountain in 3 days and assembling a mass choir on for one performance like at Coachella rival anything done in the 808s era performance wise.

Alot of you Niggas don't know how to just dislike something without being a hater and that's why you end up spamming with threads and having zero rebuttal beyond "it's just Christian rap" When someone gives a well thought out reply.

This not to trash y'all or anything but you don't need to go to the 100% most negative outlook extreme opinion.

You can not like JIK and not have to say "Kanye fell off" You can be disappointed by him not performing secular music without saying "He's irrelevant"

@no_chance You can not enjoy Sunday Service without downplaying the quality of them and work put into them aswell.

To say "SS killed the Kanye performance" is absolutely insane and doesn't even jive with reality. You can not like the Services and they not kill Kanye performance history or hype.

Just because an acorn hit your head doesn't mean the sky is falling y'all gotta learn that you can dislike s*** and not be a hater too.

You can have your opinions too btw but like damn y'all gotta learn to atleast debate them s***s if you gonna put them on a discussion board.

Having a Kanye performance every week is OBVIOUSLY going to get less people excited for them. But I think in early days of SS when it was less accessible, we all got dumb hype for big performances like Coachella.

Obviously it’s gotten a little old but it’s amazing that we get to see it every week. The month of the album release with all the listening parties and even the Jamaica SS (which was totally unique musically) leading up to The Forum performances had great marketing and had everyone talking about Kanye. It’s genius as an album rollout technique; Now we’re just waiting on the next album

no joke, the sunday service performances have been the best part of this era. i hated the album, but I really believe each performance has been unique and worth tuning in for (except for the last one). yeah, he's not doing crazy choreography and multi-million dollar set-ups, but the energy and care is still there. plus, a lot of the covers and renditions of previous Ye songs/gospel classics have been pretty great for the most part.

i still love secular Ye far more musically and creatively, but ya'll are buggin if you hate the Sunday Service that much tbh
