I know a lot of you have hopped on the Korean film train after Parasite. I’m sure some of you started with Oldboy, I saw the devil, memories of murder, etc. Korea has an amazing film culture.

This movie s***s on all those though.

Former gangster Tae-sik is released from prison and heads back to his hometown to live in a small restaurant with a woman who has forgiven him for killing her own son. Attempting to leave his past behind, he takes a job in a garage and tries to keep away from the local gangs, most of whom still live in fear of his brutal reputation. When a local politician wants to knock down his mom’s restaurant to build a new shopping mall, Tae-sik struggles to avoid returning to a life of violence

It’s labeled as your standard k-revenge flick but there’s not much action in this. Don’t go into it expecting mindless action like that. Don’t get me wrong, the climax is fantastic, but that’s not the goal of this film.

Sit back, relax, smoke a j , and take it all in. This is a beautiful film for any cinema lover. It’s only subbed in English, but get over that hurdle if u don’t like subtitles. It’s worth it.
